Had the NFC blown call was against the Cowboys

Against my Rams, would the Cowboys react the same way as Saints fans? Would Cowboys fans want not only a rematch but bring the play back to the 1:49 second mark with 1st and goal?

I ask this because even though most Cowboys fans on here are awesome, The Cowboys probably have the biggest fan-base in the NFL so there going to be a lot different emotions, feelings, reactions, attitudes, behaviors and will-power.

Separate question below (nothing to do with the first question above)

Also if the Cowboys fan did petition for a rematch and boycott the NFL (Cowboys being the NFL biggest cash cow), would the Commissioner allow a rematch?

Thoughts on both questions. Thanks

Yes and it would probably be worse. The difference is that fans of the other 30 teams would be on your side.

If the bad call helped the Cowboys, there would be a LOT more noise from people wanting the Commissioner to reverse the result.
THIS!! ^^^ I can't even imagine the nationwide whining if the Cowboys had been on the winning side of a huge (non)call like that. During our 7-1 stretch, and even after the playoff win against Seattle, all I heard was how "Jerry Jones has the refs paid off", or "The NFL wants the Cowboys to win because it makes them money", and a hundred other ridiculous conspiracy theories about the NFL being scripted. If the NFL is scripted, how about scripting us into a damn NFC Championship game? It's been almost 25 friggin years!

2 years now they came up short.
And they really did everything necessary to WIN that game this year to advance.

The team's actual play on the field did not come up short.
Never have seen a more blatant non call. At least that I can recall.

It's like someone asking you what is 2+2 ? Answer correctly and you get $1 million.
You answer 4, and they say "wrong, it's 5" and give the prize to someone else.

Well it is a drag to have a no call like that at end of a game, but that is part of the game, there are no calls all through the game,
that affect it, and that one was just overblown by aikman and the other guy and the people running all the replays.

I dont think the Saints deserved the 1 SB they did win, putting a bounty on 2 older QB's is pretty low, couldnt beat them fairly.
They should have that SB title taken away.

But the NFL wont do that , or replay any game.

That is just the way it goes, and you just have to accept it and move on.
The problem is so many replays today, and not much can actually be reviewed or changed.
The other thing is in playoffs we often hear that refs are "just letting them play" meaning they arent going by usual standards for
calling penaltys, yet at same time , some plays where not much happened are flagged.

It isnt perfect, nothing is.

Maybe the Mob controls the outcome of nfl games for gambling reasons lol and they needed rams to win, who knows.

Yep, I wonder how it will all be remembered, because when you think about it, Payton with 1 of the all time great qbs, only had 1 Super Bowl appearances and win in 12 seasons accompanied by 4 losing seasons of 7-9 , 3 in back to back to back seasons . Will anyone bring this blown call up when describing Payton and Brees legacy?

Well, Technically, we have had this situation before. Deion and the no call PI against Michael. The blown calls and/or no calls against the Colts in Super Bowl V. Oh, we've been there.

Some might.
But over time, most fans usually only remember who won it all and not the games of inches getting there.
I don't even always remember who the SB runner-up was, let alone the NFC runner-up.

First off, I was hoping the Rams would win so that the Saints were less likely to be shown on local channels in NW Florida. However, the deliberate attempt to fix the game by allowing a receiver to be blasted is so egregious that incompetence is no excuse. NFL games are no longer watchable. I hope that the game is rescheduled to pick up at the 1:49 mark to salvage the integrity of the sport.

If that restart does not happen, then football has been ruined for me. It is as unwatchable as the NBA, where refs determine who wins.

Without a rescheduling of this game, the NFL draft doesn't matter, the free agency doesn't matter, regular season games do not matter. The Super Bowl certainly doesn't matter. Goodell has RUINED THE NFL. I don't care about any hypotheticals or the NFL itself, until the integrity of the game is restored. Officiating errors are ok. This was not an error, it was deliberate, and came from officials who live near LA.

It used to be that in football, DEFENSE wins championships. Now in Phootball, REFEREES win championships.

Have you been following the commissioner's treatment of the Cowboys over the past couple of years? Therein lies your answer.
Yeah, I'm kind of used to it at this point. It would be another example I can use to argue the NFL is fixed. Nothing can be done about the league wide accepted favoritism of certain teams and the mistreatment of others.

Probably, that call was massive and robbed a team the chance for a Super Bowl. Who knows if they'll ever get back to that point.

I don't think it matters that it's the Cowboys, they wouldn't replay the game.
Nope not replay the game and the NFL would make a statement that the legs were tangled and it
Was coincidental contact. Then they would change the meaning of what is pass interference

No they've admitted the mistake, they just wouldn't replay it.

They should just award the game to the Saints,,, that penalty would have effectively ended the game right there.

I would be more ticked if the cowboys got the ball first in OT and then threw a pick.. yes the penalty was egregious , yes the refs blew the call big time but when all was said and done they threw a pick in ot that led to the win for the opposing team .. 60 minutes of football in regulation .. don’t leave it in the refs hands .. in fact with our anti cowboy conspiracy theories that play would’ve some how turned into a penalty against Dallas with 15 yards and loss of down ;)

A lot of Cowboy fans on this website have said they think the game should be played from that point with the penalty enforced and Saints first and goal. I'm not one of them though, because to me you can't justify doing that based on one erroneous or missed calls unless you are willing to do it with all erroneous or missed calls. And there were others, and for all we know, had those calls gone differently the game may not have been in the same situation it was when that PI call was missed.

The time for the Saints protest was right after the play. Sean Payton should have had his team stay on the sideline until the officials met and changed it. Once another play was run, then it's just like a QB getting his team up to the line and running a play after a questionable catch. Everyone knows that once another play is run then the game continues. But it wasn't over for the Saints anyway. If the call had been made they could have run it down and perhaps missed the FG or even had it blocked and returned like some kicks were during the year. Or they could have scored a TD with more than a minute on the clock and Goff leads the Rams down the field to tie. There was no guarantee that the Saints would have won even thought the odds were pretty high that they would have. They had a three point lead after the play anyway with under two minutes left and still managed to blow the game.
