One play of 100+. Many of the rest had missed penalties as well. Yes, they screwed up, buy if you whine about one missed call, you have to whine about them all. If you redo for one, you have to redo for all. They all matter. The game is the sum of its parts. That play happened because of all the other missed penalties.

The pass to Dwight Clark was one play of 100+. No significance?

A TD is significant, of course, but is not the entire game. And it is different from missed penalties which occur on almost every play.

In most situations, I'd agree w/ you Kev. This one has me bumfoozled. It was too blatant to miss.

Yeah, but that just relates to how poor a job the ref did, not the impact on the game. A missed penalty that is difficult to see because of a poor angle or bodies in the way or just the speed of the game are no less impactful than those that are easy to see.

oh, they saw it ... and did nothing ... the side judge told the down judge not to throw his flag...

I know what video you're referring to. I was actually going to post a video but I held off. The video I saw did not show the down judge. I wanted to see both, but most importantly the down judge reaching for the flag. But a better video saw both judges waving incomplete and the side judge was trying to hold off a furious Sean Peyton approaching one of the officials.

Another article regarding a lawsuit by Saints fans. NFL says it would cost the league $100 million to redo the game the NFL stole from the Saints. LOL, hope those fans win a large settlement.

I don't see how they could win this. They keep bringing up that rule, but the commissioner makes that call, and he has stated that judgement calls do not apply.

I don't see how he did a poor job. My conclusion is that it appears he intentionally missed it. It was too blatant for a miss.

the league got what they wanted the rams in the superbowl and if its close the officials will get them a win there so if the pats want to win they better make sure the score is not close

That seems to be the case for a lot of penalties (many holds we can't imagine could be missed). The NFL clearly had the refs pull back on PI/def holding in the playoffs. They took it a little too far.

They actually did see it, but you cannot challenge a non-call. I bet that changes this off season.

they need a guy in the booth with a live link to the ref -or- they need real time reffing from Park Ave for each game to make sure non-calls like that do get made.

Did the ball get tipped by defender? Saw video somewhere that showed an angle where it appeared it did...
