The team's inability to attack the seam in the passing game was obvious. Most of the plays the TEs were making were on play action with outside breaking or drag routes.

Hmmm, didn't Jarwin score two Tds in one game right down the seam....lol the more he plays the better they'll get.

Stephen Jones said it as well.

It’s an obvious position that needs upgrading.
As is pass rush, safety and linemen.....we need upgrades all over the field. A lot of underachievers and if we are being honest? None of the tight ends underachieved.

Yes but we are picking late and TEs usually fall and pass rushers get plucked off the board quick.

If we want quality it will most likely be a TE, Guard, Safety.. Positions like that tend to fall.

Charlie Weis would be beloved here in Dallas as HC. Would Jerry allow him to put HIS stamp on the team? We likely know the answer.

I agree blocking is not a strong suit for Jarwin, although he seemed to get better as the season went on. I think Schultz can block - he did a lot of it in college, and it was considered a strength in college. We saw a few struggles with it early on, but like with Jarwin it improved over the season. Neither is a "knock players on their butt" kind of blocker, but how many TEs are? Swaim is also considered a good blocker, and that's part of why I wouldn't mind seeing him back.

I looked up the draft profile on Jesse James, and it was not at all complementary of his blocking, and really not even much as a receiver. I also noticed his 40 time at the combine was 4.83.

why would you look at James draft profile? hes been in the league for 4 yrs. Why not just watch some of the videos on him. Hes developed and now hes a complete TE

I get that, and I would love to have James to solidify the depth of the position, but the question is if he isn't clearly an upgrade is he worth the cost and the multi-year contract he will likely want? Swaim could solidify depth for less money and less of a time commitment.

I think he's a clear upgrade over Swaim and he'd be multi year but probably fairly low cost and the idea is that he'd outplay his salary. I just think he brings more to the table than Swaim, Swaim was our best TE early in the season but TE production got much better when Swaim went down for all that's worth so I think we need to upgrade Swaim which is where James imo comes to play and then replace Gathers with a prospect which is why I'm a fan of Sternberger.

And don't get me wrong, is he a clear upgrade and is he worth the extra money is a legitimate question I just think my gut says yes.

Coach Weis who created NE's potent offense was on 105.3 The Fan this morning and was asked about his assessment of Dallas. He said he loved Dak in college and said he was one of thee toughest QBs he's ever seen. He said Dak was a winner.

He said our defense was good and our two young LBs were outstanding.

We have the league leading RB and a great OL, and that's the key to our offense. We should continue to pound the ball.

The only thing missing is a TE, and things will fall into place.
Yeah a TE would’ve help us beat LA. Farce. We need DT’s, a SS, and a FS.

How many game changing tight ends are in this league? You guys are making tight end to be a bigger position than it really is. There's a handful of game changing tight ends in the league. And with that 2nd round pick...we need someone who can come in day 1 and compete for a starting job. If tight end is that position that's fine. But I personally saw enough from Schultz and Jarwin to make me hold off on making that my first pick of the draft.

1 td in the first 15 games is falling into place at te considering we had the leagues worst red zone Scoring offense . What is their 3rd down conversion rate .How effective will they be when our 3rd down hero spot played slot guy is Gone!!

Sounds like a bunch of more culda wulda shuldas to me!!! 5 + years and counting. When is the last time a te took over a playoff game. Not in My Lifetime. I was Embarressed to watch the 1 td in 15 game te core.

Our #2 wasn't all that special on paper either.

If you take out that game of padded stats again the Giants we had the laughing Stock #2 and te stats in the League. He's gonna Improve to this and he shoulda improved to that and Amari is gonna improve into Antonio browB, and swaim is gonna be Gronk, and Gallop is gonna be Harper.

I hear a bunch of culda wulda shuldas but when I look at the Stats all I see is Dak Zeke and Amari and a clutch 3rd down spot played slot wr .

What else do y'all see on paper in the Scoring and 3rd down conversions to think we can go from last to first.

3.5 skilled players out of 6 are great players. Dak, Zeke, Amari and Beasely. You can only count Beasely as .5 because he only gets 1/2 the snaps as the #2 outside wr even though he is CONSISTENTLY BETTER on critical passing downs
