He was a history major.

He also transferred from Columbia to Princeton following his father who went to coach there. There likely was some favoritism involved due to it.

George W. Bush went to Yale. His family connections and not his intelligence nor anything he specifically did were likely reasons he was accepted there.
I heard Garrett on a local sports talk radio interview say he was an English major when they asked him.

I see the internet says history but he definitely said English in the interview.

Either way History and English are similar majors.

Obviously many neanderthals that played college football and majored in P.E. (or whatever name the school has given it to make it sound better) would not qualify for Princeton but in general the great minds of Garrett's generation didn't tend to be History or English majors.

I only broach the topic because I've heard football commentators repeatedly refer to Garrett being intelligent because he went to Princeton.

No, he was at Princeton first, then transferred to Columbia to play for his dad, then transferred back to Princeton after his Dad resigned at Columbia. Getting into Princeton had nothing to do with his Dad. But, even if it had happened as you indicated, it’s not as if Columbia is a second rate school. It’s also Ivy League.
You're right. He went to a prep school located in one of the top ten highest income places in the country and likely got accepted more for his athletics (he was their freshman QB) and his educational privilege.

Athletics may well have played a part, although for all we actually know he may have been able to get in even without the athletics. But even if it played a part, athletics is not the overriding factor in getting accepted to an Ivy League school. There is a reason the Ivy League can’t compete with other conferences in football, and that’s because even athletes have to meet tough academic standards to get in. Ivy League schools don’t even offer are athletic scholarships.

Garrett was an English major.

Pick any random STEM major of a major university and they'll likely have a significantly higher IQ than 99% of English majors at Princeton.

Interesting. Didn’t know that. Explains why he isn’t an X and O guy. Not an analytical mind. More of a story guy. Completely makes since when you look at his focus and streabgtgs/weaknesses.

Yeah history and English attract the same types. Not analytical types.

This guy is truly a genius of historic levels.

Don't know why he's wasting all those smarts on football.

He should be out there curing world hungry and global warming.

Funny how so many people here are opining on Moore's intelligence and capability, without ever having seen him at work. It's not like anyone's pissing and moaning is going to change the fact that he's been named the OC, so how about we wait until at least the first regular season game is played, before we decide he can't do it.
