Yes, more people watch exciting football games. And, yes, fewer people watch boring ones. That rule was proven yet again on Sunday night, when the Rams -- 11 weeks after a Week 11 54-point exp...

Aside from the poor officiating, it was probably the best NFL season in quite a few years. It is a shame that it ended with that game for the casual and non-football fans to witness.

I don't mind defensive battles but that game won't do much to draw in new fans.

If the Chiefs made the SB, probably would of had higher ratings and ended in another 100+ point combined score.

I admit I didn't watch any of it cause figured the Pats would win.

I don't know that it was because of the low score. I mean, how many people just didn't turn on the game, at all? That has no bearing on people tuning out because of score. If you never tune in, you don't know what the score was or what kind of game it turned into because you never had any interest in watching it at all.

This might be more of a statement on what fans think of the state of the NFL today. I think the officiating and the rules changes might be affecting viewership more then some may think.

Southern California is a major television market dominated by professional basketball and baseball viewership. The NFL ended up with a championship matchup that would not be supported heavily by one of the two teams. Not surprising but I just hope the New Orleans Saints market does not claim it played a large part in the low viewership numbers since it is minor compared to Los Angeles and the surrounding area.

It really doesn't matter, CBS still got 5M per ad and they do not have to guarantee points for this game so no make goods. It is down but still the largest audience of the year in any live event.

Maybe this will put the fixed game conspiracy to rest for a while because every owner except Kraft wanted a KC-LA rematch, which would have set the record.

Markets and fanbases aside, I'm sure a lot id people didn't bother to come back after it was 3-0 at halftime.

The matchup was not ideal, and the two teams delivered duds.

The Overnight from NO went from 52 to an all time low of 26 but that is not enough to drop it 7% nationally.

Its a direct response to NO getting screwed out of their SB appearance, and viewer fatigue with NE.

The Rams should have never gone to the SB

Saints blew the game themselves. The most overrated QB along with Rodgers failed to deliver them a win. Simple as that. Screw one of the most biggest bandwagon franchises there is. You couldn't find a Saints fan at all for almost their entire duration. Last decade, they pop up like cockroaches. Suing the league? Lmao. Like they didn't blow the game themselves. Refs missed a blatant facemask on Goff the drive before that would have set the Rams up to run more clock and take a 4pt lead but had to settle for 3. But lets forget about all that and just focus on one call!!!
