The rating had ZERO to do with the low scoring output. Nobody before the game predicted a 3 - 0 halftime score and 16 total points. It was an exciting game because at any point prior to the last NE FG, either team could've won it. And for much of that time, 1 play (punt return, int/fumble return, long pass or run) could've determined the outcome.

The lower ratings was about NE fatigue, the Saints getting jobbed, and the reason the Rams left LA originally. LA is a basketball and college town. That's why is so ridiculous that the NFL thought they could put 2 teams there.

Rams don't have a big following.

And only Patriot fans are not sick and tired of the Patriots in the Super Bowl. It's like being forced to eat stale bread day after day after day.

basically it was a Patriot home game yesterday

stale bread is fine if the Cowboys are the stale bread

If the Rams are having trouble in this market, imagine the Chargers?

It's a complete dumpster fire.

The new stadium will help for a couple of years but after that, who knows?

The league really should figure out a way to get the Chargers back to San Diego. I have no idea how though. I believe the Chargers signed like a 40 year lease to play in LA.
SD was not going for a new stadium so they have little choice. St. Louis was willing to bend over to keep the Rams and that scumbag that married money spurned them. What a dbag, I am glad they lost and hope they lose from here on out. That stadium will be a draw just to say they saw it but beyond that, LA people are like the honey badger, they don't give a .

Between the two, if I were visiting SD, I might catch a Chargers game but screw the Rams, I wouldn't go see them for free. If I were going to a sporting event in LA, that would be the Dodgers or Lakers and I don't like the NBA.

You're too late, they believe there actions has everything to do with the low ratings.
Trust me, I know. I live here in northeastern Louisiana filled with Saints fans. I wear some sort of Cowboys apparel every day (usually a cap) so I am one of those goto non-Cowboys fans in their eyes for Saints' related discussions :p.

They are fully in 'SEE? SEE WHAT WE DID? YEEHAW!' mode. I am like "Guys. The solid base of any franchise is powered by their home cities. New Orleans has a population less than 400 K. Do y'all really believe you punched the NFL in the gut as hard as you think you did?" Funny. They rarely like me offering a logical perspective in their conversations.

2)The Rams got there under suspicious circumstances.
3)The game was boring.
4)The halftime show sucked.

I’m ready for Rolland Garros, French Open! Tennis for me is a big draw, like it or not. Then Wimbledon. And when the US Open begins, its time for the NFL to start once again.

NASCAR is okay, unless it’s Toyota always winning. Baseball sucks. March Madness is semi-fun, and the NBA playoffs is mediocre at best.

Oh yeah, fug hockey unless the Stars are decent and making a run.

I love Wimbledon! I’ll have to watch more French Open because I usually just watch Wimbledon and the US Open.

According to local CBS affiliate WWL-TV, Super Bowl LIII drew a paltry 26.1 overnight Nielsen rating in the New Orleans market, a sharp decline from last year's overnight rating of 52.4.

The Times-Picayune reported the overnight rating for the New England Patriots' 13-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams was the lowest of any metered market, and the lowest overnight rating for a Super Bowl ever in New Orleans.

Those numbers were expected. The question is how much would a marginal market like New Orleans, which is a small fraction of either the New England or Southern California area markets, impact overall viewership numbers? The impact is likely far less than Saints fans might think. Of course they can take credit there is a verifiable connection of viewership among more major markets across the country not watching the game because of Saints fans disgruntled propaganda. I wonder if that has been measured or is measurable though.

“Propaganda” is a good word for it. It was a bad call, but Saints fans sold it like it was the only time a bad call was ever made in a playoff game (on Twitter a Saints fan was quoted as saying Goodell better address this before another team gets screwed ) As a result, they convinced fans around the country to boycott the game, not only in NOLA.

It was a bad call. There’s no question about it. But I could list numerous bad calls I’ve seen in playoff games (a few of them were against our Cowboys; Dez’ catch/non-catch comes to mind immediately/still hurts, but I didn’t sue the league or take to the streets.) There were many other missed calls in that same Saints/Rams playoff game...one frequently mentioned by Rams’ fans is a Goff face mask that should have been called against the Saints that would have kept a drive going. If the refs made the DPI call, it would have likely iced the game for the Saints...but even that’s not guaranteed. The Saints could have fumbled on the next play and the Rams might have taken it to the house. When the Saints had a chance to win the game in OT, Brees threw an INT which sealed the game for the Rams.

I’m sick of hearing all this propaganda!! It’s been non-stop for the past 2+ weeks, and now they think they’ve won some sort of victory....they’re going to beat this dead horse all the way to the 2019 season. ugh.

Clearly I needed to vent. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity once again. ;)

It was an issue of legitimacy. The NFL wants photo finish games. That’s fine. But if you want fans to feel these close outcomes are legit, you need better officiating. The game’s outcome can’t hinge on terrible overturns and horrible non-calls.

Yeah those stupid corn syrup ones...
Corn syrup effects the brain and makes one stupid, so yeah, but drink on... that's for another site.

Maybe Goodell will rig the Cowboys in the SB next year to save the league.

Rafa Nadal is the best clay court player in history.

He will win it again.

he is getting old and often is injured

As I want Federer to remain the player with the most majors, it would probably, as ironic as it seems, be better if Nadal wins because he basically only wins on clay now. Right now I believe it is 20-17-15 with Djokovic coming up quickly.

The NFL wanted the Rams in there to boost the market. Funny thing is that it won't make any difference. Their stadium will always be full of opposing fans, and several years down the road, the Rams will be in another city.
