He wouldn't call it quits when he suffered a horrific injury in his final college game and has managed to have quite the young career. Smith isn't ready to put college behind him just yet, however, with one more goal on his mind.

To get his degree.

Smith is finishing his degree in Film and Television at Notre Dame and plans to graduate in May

Obviously the guy already has a career in the media once he retires and this is just reinforcing that. Always respect a guy that goes back to school especially when they’re in line to make millions.

Some team player, smh. Should be with Lee and LVE studying video tape!!!
Or working out with the 6'8 385lb chiseled Mike White!

Nah, for real that's cool. Always a sound move getting your degree no matter how bright your NFL future is.

I wish I could of finished my undergrad as a millionaire.

Zero financial related stress while being a full time student even for 1 semester. JS is probably living really nice close to campus.

Excellent. An education always lasts longer than the temporary fame of pro football. An education can open doors not previously available. More importantly, an education is one of the few things in life than can never be taken away.

HAY NOTRE DAME! Just make sure you return him. Dont try to steal him or sign him to some underground dark market illegal contract to help out that crappy defense!

Remember all those people on this board saying he was a wasted pick and then proceeded to pretend to be doctors saying he will never play for us? Fun times.

Along with some posters that claimed he was basically stupid too, not bright enough to call plays for us......

I have always wondered if some were down on Smith simply because he went to ND. ND often causes this visceral bitterness in some fans that carries over to players from there.

ND had a pretty good defense last year.
