He made 16 million in 6 years and didn’t pay off his car? That’s ridiculous.

Lots of athletes waste a fortune on cars and bars
That’s why they end up broke by 40

I've heard they like to invest and since they're 20 year olds investing they usually get scammed and the investment doesn't work out.

If you've never had a job your entire life and your first job is paying you millions of dollars then you have no value of a dollar so you just buy stupid things.

Plus they have agents, family, and friends with their palms out too.

I could see how they blow that money but my gosh it takes a long list of stupid decisions to do it.

Williams would be the 4million dollar 5th option now. His future left with Tony.

and homes. most just can't figure out that being "able" to make payments or even buy outright is not the end of the expense of owning a home. The bigger the home, the more it costs to keep it.

I always applaud the guys who live modestly and plan for their future. Those who live for the image, die by the image.

He’s most likely going to be cut as well.

Some people are terrible at managing money.

Without reading the story, he probably isn’t the smartest but in this case, this dude probably got tired of the car, couldn’t sell it, or continuing to invest in it isn’t worth it.

He probably got it because he couldn’t lease it. Then he went and got another car (probably realizing his nfl career might end sooner than later). He can take the repo hit, pay cash for everything, and will fall off around the time when he probably need to pay some things with credit.

If all this is true, sounds like a smart move by not paying the car in full

I was in the auto business for many years and got hooked up with a sports agent
I sold one basketball player 5 vehicles and the first 4 I dealt with the agent so had to kick him back some money
But the last one he came in and walked up to a vehicle and looked at the sticker. He said I know how this works and I’m not paying anymore than that
Since the customer is always right it was the first one he paid full sticker for
I sold one who paid 30k a year to rent the furniture in his house

yeah, kinda hard to argue when the client "knows how this works". Funny.

Dez had a similar issue with jewelry. These guys assume their agents or money manager handle these things then boom they find out the hard way there been had.

Probably for the best. Guy fell off a scooter. In a 700 HP car while being a bone head, what could go wrong?

I actually find myself feeling sorry for him. He's not a bad guy. Just not good with finances.
