It is clear that Cowboyszoners over value our players as a general rule. We literally can't lose anyone, or the sky will fall!!!

We are finally at the spot where we should want to keep most of the guys on this team provided that the money is right. But you can't pay everyone what they want to stay and still field a team two or three years from now.

Williams needed to go. The cap number didn't match production.

Hurns was expected to be more of an impact player than he was, but him leaving won't hurt us.

Lee is done. Letting him go saves a ton of cap.

We need to try to keep the core of this team together, but not everyone who is a top performer will be retained unless some of them sign team friendly deals. That's why I don't expect to see Beasley back in a Cowboys uniform next year eaither.

I think Dak, Zeke, Amari, Jaylon, are locks to stick around.

That may not be the case with Byron, Tank, and Collins (RT). Probably at least one of those guys is no longer a Cowboy soon.

I wish people could be a little bit more objective in their evaluation of our roster. To them every Cowboy is top 5, when in reality few are. Maybe Fredbeard, Martin, Zeke and Tyron (at one time). The rest probably not.

I don't value any player above team success, I can move on from any player if it benefits the Cowboys. I may not agree with the decision regarding personnel but at the end of the day I'm always hoping that they are right regardless of my own thoughts....Go Cowboys!

I think Noah Brown is top 5. I’m a rebel. And a trendsetter. Expect more to jump on the bandwagon.

You know what else happens? Cowboys fans underrating some of our players thinking they can easily be replaced with no real decrease in overall play.
The only way to replace a player and pay less is the draft and some positions are really tough
For example some want to let Dlaw walk, you aren’t replacing him at 58
If you want to let jones walk you better hope you can get a guy this year
I’ve never seen anyone wanting to keep Twill or even many wanting to keep Beasley at what he wants

Tank was drafted much later than Taco. While draft position matters you it's not an exact science. Gallup was a 3rd rounder and he is already better than Dez was his entire last three years.

The only player you listed that is a free agent is Tank so I don’t understand the post.

The draft is a crap shoot
But we got Gallup last year because it was a derp class
Hopefully the light comes on for taco but I have my doubts. I get the feeling with taco it’s more heart and desire than talent
Dlaw has the heart and desire
Figuring out who does would make the draft much easier

Nobody really needed to go today.

Dumping Williams was a slap in the face. AFAIK, nothing was guaranteed. You don't throw away rights for no reason. The Cowboys were telling Williams "We've got a reason not to want you around."

Rework Lee's contract to reduce salary and make most of it gamecheck and snap dependent. There's way too much upside with a fully healthy Lee to throw that possibility in the dumpster. He certainly wasn't looking good last year, but good chance he isn't *done*.

I agree with your keeps and potential outs on the extensions.

I think Collins is inevitable. Maybe this year, but probably only if traded. Otherwise we keep him til 2020 and churn him for a comp pick. Williams takes his place at RT at least by 2020.

"A derp class"......Wouldn't that have been Irving's draft class?

I'm torn on Lee. He was one of my favorite Cowboys and the ultimate professional. On the other hand he looked DONE to me.

I would love to see him stick around (if he can actually still play) at a reduced price and see him be quality depth (but not actually play except in relief).

I am not FOR putting Lee on the field in place of the Predator or Wolf Hunter. He's clearly a liability compared to either of them.

True. I just take great comfort in knowing how right I am and how those who disagree with me are always wrong. It's as comforting as a warm blanket on a cold day. Lol
I take back my earlier statement, and now I say, "Verdict for President!!"

I wouldn't take LVE or Jaylon off the field for them either. 3 LBs in the base. 3 of them. The numbers work.

And for "nickel" I'd want to use Jaylon like an in the box SS as often as possible, blitzing or man coverage on a TE, with Lee and LVE playing the traditional LB roles. Particularly given our lack of a strong SS.

Lee looked poor last year. I don't know if done or injured. But a healthy Lee, who maybe lost a step, with LVE and Jaylon in our base, sounds like some awesome run defense. He'd be great depth, and irreplaceable coaching for LVE and Jaylon, on and off the field.

There's just so much upside, and the downside risk can be limited by reworking the contract to make it snap based.
