It sounds like there's a very real chance that the Eagles release Timmy Jernigan. I've always been a fan of his play. I think he would be an excellent fit at the 1-tech in our scheme. Nasty against the run but can move and push the pocket.

Thoughts?

He’d turn out to what Irving turned out to be this year & miss all season.

I know we had interest in him coming out of the draft

He had back surgery last year. I'd be weary of signing him to any long term deal. An interior DL with a back problem would scare me a bit.

I like him, wonder what the cost will be given that he didn't play last year.

Can you elaborate here? Outside of 2018, his history doesn't really suggest this.

Idk if it’s real cheap deal and we can make it work yes, him over Irving since he can’t stay clean, but I think we go another route. He had injury issues coming out.

Any DLine interior help sounds good to me! I hope we finally focus on it this offseason, considering how we looked in the playoffs and all.

Timmy would have to be on 1 heck of a cheap deal or you have to really know where he is health wise. Looks like he played in a few games towards the end of the season racking up 2 tackles.

He was also in the playoffs, had a half a sack in both games. Seems he's okay.

Thanks I forgot to check post season info too. I hadn't heard much from him almost all year so wasn't sure how he was health wise. Maybe better after a full off season.

Timmy did not have injury issues in college. He played 39 of a possible 40 games. At Florida State. The issue Dallas had was wanting guys who are heavier 3 Techs. Seeing him as a two down guy.

Timmy would improve the interior of our line and a decent show me deal because of the back injury would be worth kicking the tires.

Kinda guy that could end up in DAL if he wants to play for a longer term deal.

He sits outside the DAL height/weight ideals with shortish arms but he is very strong for a guy his size.

Underweight but strong nose tackle kinda fits what they like.
Not sure on motor as he was a bit on and off in college and of course back issues are always worrisome.

Hmm, let's take a closer look:

Jernigan - Avg of 3.875 sacks, 6.25 TFL, and 10.75 QB hits per year. Excluding 2018 where he was out.

Woods - 1.5 sacks, 2 TFL, and 5 QB hits per year.

Can you elaborate on what numbers you're looking at?

Meant to put Collins as Jernigan is a 3tech not a NT. brain fart on my part. Id run with Collins and draft a guy. Not sign a FA for production that a guy thats on the team already gets. Its about getting better not staying status quo

Got it. Philly definitely runs some odd fronts, but I'd classify Jernigan's role as closer to our 1-tech than 3-tech. Jernigan and Collins would start together IMO, with Woods rotating in primarily on running downs.
