JW is one of my favorite Cowboys of all time. He will be in the grave 10 years and still be better and know more than all of us combined. Will he be great again? Nope. Will he play 90% of the snaps? Not anymore. But, he will do what he does to help this team win games. He will get key first downs. He will be key leadership that we lack. He will help Dak and KM. He will help all the young bucks learn and be better. He will open up routes for the a slot guy. He will take a little pressure off Coop and Gallup. Our offense SUCKED this year. It can't be worse, and JW won't make it worse. You're foolish if you think he thinks he will be like the JW of old. Nobody in the organization thinks that. But you're also foolish if you think he can't be a difference maker in a couple key games. I know this upsets you "Rico is a HOF guy who needs more PT" guys. But settle down, this isn't as bad as you guys are making it out to be.

Just announced.
These idiots are saying Witten return was because of failing at TV. Jason Witten took the TV job because of a window of opportunity and his BFF made the crossover to TV. But the reason Romo went to TV was because he could not play football anymore (lost his job and losing health). Witten heart was to play football. He is from a football loving family and football is what he knows and loves.

Geoff Swaim or Rico Gathers will not be a Cowboy next year and the other young TEs have another year of mentoring by a Hall of Fame TE.

I always saw Witten retiring into Coaching. He talked like a position coach as a TV commentator. He will not get the money he got from TV to be a position coach. So a return to TV after playing his heart out where his heart is makes sense.

I see a lot of complaints about his catching ability and his lack of YAC.

But he's automatically the best blocking TE on the roster (though that's not saying much considering their corps).

The Cowboys sorely lacked in better blocking last year.

I have no problem with him for depth. If he beats out any of our current tight ends? We have a bigger problem at hand.

"Depth" is $1 million , not $5 million. Or even the $3.5 million that other people are reporting.

It's the whole Sean Lee, Allen Hurns, Tyrone Crawford mess all over again. Paying good money to guys who don't earn it on the field.

I'm more than OK with this. He knows next year is our year. All you guys talking smack about him coming back will have to eat crow when he catches the game winner in the super bowl next year.

Deep down, I like it. I know he's slow and mostly a 2-yard solution to a 5-yard problem, but selfishly Jason is one of my favorite players of all time.
This is exactly how I feel. I know I'm not supposed to be this excited, but darn it he's a living legend.

I'd say this is a good day for Ben Rogers at The Fan.

He got dogpiled for saying Witten was returning during the season last year.

Turns out that indeed is what Witten wanted to do, but thought it would be wrong at the time.
