Garrett said Linehan was good before he got fired, so there's that.

A sizable pay cut for Lee to stay, no doubt. FO's around the league say "don't pay for past production, pay for future production", well, what the heck is DAL doing?
Jerry will pay for "NAMES" sean made a name and rep , and jerry likes names and reps, that why witten is back.
To me Sean is still good, but has slowed down too much and hasnt played enough, and it nvg covering on passes, where he used to be very good.
on the runs he is still viable, but is missing stuff there too.
this move and witten move ,keeping jg promoting young kellen, are all reasons why dallas wont go to a SB.
They will be fun to watch though.

Restructure his contract so he takes a pay cut. Then start him on the strong side in place of Damien Wilson who is an Unrestricted Free Agent. Lee only plays about 40 percent(running downs), is a coach on the field, and extends his career. On running downs you get LVE, Jaylon, and Lee all on the field together. Not a better group in football! In 2-3 years he's your LB coach. It’s a no-brainer and a Win-Win for everybody. Don’t know why this is so hard for them to figure out.

True, but that doesn't stop the Cowboys from shoving the unproven into coaching roles--see Kellen Moore. But at least Lee played well on the field, which gives him more cred than Moore has.

Moore was regarded highly by league execs which bears more weight to me than Internet posters opinions.

And literally no one can call a worse game than linehan with the players we have.

If that role isn't Smith, LVE and Lee on the field at the same time then these coaches need to be shot. Made little sense to only put him out there when we took LVE off the field. Three great linebackers can and should play at the same time. They can give each other a breather, but it shouldn't be a primary purpose.

All three are good in pass defense as well, but the run defense would improve quite a bit then.

Yes, yes, we all know...Kellen Moore is a genius. As was Garrett.

Forgive me for not respecting your assessment.
I forget, how many years have you done that for a living?

How can Garrett discuss players roles when he doesn't even know his own?! o_O

Jerrah does this stuff all the time.

He is loyal to his players who have produced for him beyond their actual value.

Mr. Golden Parachute he is known by at The Star water cooler conversations.

Lee would have to redo his contract to back up, but you’d have to be a fool to not want him in that capacity if he were willing to take the role.
Exactly...………...I would love for Lee to come back as a backup and mentor the young LBs we have, but the dude has to take a pay cut.

Cant pay $11 million for a player that is not an every down contributor...………..just cant, too many other players need new contracts.

So I tell Lee he can redo his contract to $2-$3 million range and be a backup/players coach......If he says no, I release him.

Gotta love a coach on the hot seat saying who's going to have a role next season before FA the draft and TC. Lol

I actually dont have a problem with this...……….I tell Garrett he can play anybody he wants at any position he wants, its all up to him.

I want Garrett to have no excuses if he comes up short yet again this year.

I'm more inclined to think the dopes in this front office will keep him at his current salary as a way of saying thank you for being such a great Cowboy.
