I think is reasonable. If it’s over 3 years it’s fine. He’s an 8-10 million a year player, just guarantee him the 1st two seasons.
Let’s honestly evaluate Beasley within our team and decide if he’s worth what he’s asking.
Is Beasley the best receiver we have? No that’s obviously Amari Cooper, who is about to get a nice payday in a long term deal that will make him a top 5-10 paid WR. Is Beas our second best WR? I say no, it’s Michael Gallup, the up and coming second year guy who blossomed last year. Is Beasley our 3rd best WR? Yes.
For those who say Beasley’s our 2nd option, it’s just not much of an argument based on his stats. It’s clear, Cole Beasley’s career stats tell the story. He averages 3.1 receptions for 31 yards a game. That’s not bad- it’s a decent output for a slot receiver, especially a 3rd option WR. But in a salary cap world, it makes zero sense to pay more than what a guy’s really worth- especially at 30, when most receivers are not going to get better.
Cole Beasley is what he is. A nice 3rd option receiver. Who is not worth what his agent is asking for. Signing him when we have so many other people to sign and make decisions on would exemplify why this team has been a mediocre product for two plus decades.
