If Dak doesn't get an extension, he holds out. He's got too much money coming to take unnecessary risks for 2mil.

Let him try to hold out.

There are still enough questions about his play that if he sat out a year he's only decreasing his own value.

what has he done for 3 years?????

he holds out he doesn't get paid..... he has too many doubters and questions
If Dak held out I would be very surprised. If he got shipped off to another team I am not sure he would look as good as he does here.

Dak isn't Emmitt Smith or Khalil Mack. He might not have a job as a result. So I highly doubt he holds out.

Beasley is drunk. He'll be lucky to even sniff 10 mil guaranteed.

If Hurns is getting 5.5 million per year for 21 catches0
You forgot to include the most important player on the team who needs an extension...our franchise QB...Dak.

Also, let's not forget, Zeke, Jaylon Smith and a few other key players.

So, once again, how are the Cowboys going to afford to bring in such costly outside free agents when they have to secure their own first?

There is currently 120 million in cap space for 2020. We have plenty of space to sign those players.

Dak can be resigned at the end of the year or middle of the season depending on how he performs.

Zeke can be extended next off season.

Jaylon Smith is a Restricted Free Agent. He'll only cost us about 5 million in 2020 as a 1st round tender.

I'm letting Byron Jones and La'el Collins walk. They can return us 2 3rd round comp picks for the 2021 draft.

We will be able to use the Franchise Tag AND the Transition Tag next year since it is the last year of the CBA

Teams are reluctant to place too much guaranteed money past 2020 and the end of the CBA in case a lockout or strike happens

Especially since its been made clear about no hometown discount! Thats the whole point of signing an early new contract.

The discount comes from signing him an entire year before more QBs set record deals and the price just keeps going up.

47.5 million in cap space

Re-sign
  • DeMarcus Lawrence 5 year 105 million/63 million guaranteed (2019 cap hit 15 million)
  • Cole Beasley 4 year 24 million/17 million guaranteed (2019 cap hit 5 million)
26 million cap space

Extend
  • Amari Cooper 5 year 80 million/52 million guaranteed (2019 cap hit 10.5 million) +3 million in cap savings
29 million cap space

Free agency

12 million on 1 or 2 players

My wish list:
Earl Thomas 4 year 48 million/24 million guaranteed (2019 cap hit 8 million)

Decent starter DT 4 million per year

13 million cap space

6-8 million towards rookie signings (no expensive 1st rounder to sign)

This doesn't even include releasing players like Hurns or Lee that would save the team 12 million in cap space or even restructuring current deals.

5-7 million cap space to carry over for 2020 or have for emergency signings during the season.

2019 Draft

2nd round TE
3rd round DT
4th round WR
4th round comp RB
5th round LB
7th round Best player available
If Isabella, WR UMass, is sitting there in round 2-3, I would kiss Beasley good bye and good ridden.

I would extend Prescott just like we did with Aikman. If we are at 11 wins before the end of the 2019 season, extend him which would give your funds and options for Elliott in 2020.

Everything else is reasonable.

I’ll bet it’s closer to 20 than 10
All day. People seriously think he's going to sign for Donte Moncrief money.

Pierre Garcon and Paul Richardson both have contracts with $20m guaranteed. Combined, they played 15 games and caught 44 balls. There's your benchmark.

At about the same age, Edelman signed for 2-years, 11M total.

There was a big jump in WR salaries for 2018 but Beasley doesn't have the same cred as Edelman IMO.

Edelman signed at age 32, coming off a torn ACL, and without going to UFA. Not exactly apples to apples.
