Is There Any Scenario You Envision Welcoming Garrett Back as HC?

SJ and JJ have both made it clear in the media that the team needs to take a step forward in order for Garrett to be back. This might all be conjecture but if we take them at their word, what would JG have to do to be welcomed back by the fans? NFCCG appearance, NFC Title, SB appearance, SB win, or nothing at all?

Does it have to do more with how the team looks or how far they go?

Personally, he would have to win a SB for me to feel like he deserves to be back. What do y’all think?

Winning a Super Bowl is the only way.

I don't hate Garrett, but it's time for a change if this team again comes up short. I think 2014 and 2016 were JG's best chances but they fell by the wayside for various reasons.

Having said that, the Cowboys were the youngest of the 12 teams to make the playoffs last year, so logic suggests they'll only get better. At least, that's my hope.

anything short of an Alshon Jeffery jump ball at the end of the NFC title game & he's toast

Unless Jerry and Steven are just flat out liars, then get over the hump must by definition mean getting the team further than it has before. Currently, the team has never made it past the Divisional round.

Ergo...………….logic would dictate that the team would have to advance past the Divisional round in order to get "over the hump".

Ergo...………….NFC title game appearance at a minimum for Garrett to return if Jerry and Steven were actually telling the truth.

NFC title game appearance...………..I think that is a fair ask after a decade on the job.

If you cant win a Divisional round game after a decade being a head coach, its time for you to go.

Depressing fact of the day: since the Cowboys last won the Super Bowl in January 1996, they are one of only three teams (Lions and Commanders are the others) not to reach the NFC Championship Game.

JG ain't the problem - it's the FO

I'll give you a simple example, why risk your season (and super star RB and franchise QB) on a 2nd round OT moved to LG ... when they could have resigned J Cooper?

over time any coach is only as good as his FO

I'll welcome him back and hope he can get JJ sober

So not one conference championship in over a decade would be fine? Not. RJ g better than 15 other teams for one time in his career would be ok, and being second best would be enough to welcome in back? Hahahah, funny

Every year is its own thing. Until you know all the obstacles and can assess the outcomes against those, it's premature to make hard-and-fast judgments.

Barring something major, though, that would take out a key ingredient in the recipe for a prolonged time, I think NFC Championship Game is the marker.

We all want to win the next Super Bowl, but they'll definitely keep him if that happens.

Yeah, the scenario that already exists.

Jerry promoted a 29yo guy who just completed his first season coaching at any level, who was a QB coach (a position where he worked one-on-one with 3 players) to OC, where, in his second-ever season, he’ll now call all the plays while overseeing an entire NFL offense — per the team owner’s orders.

Jerry isn’t gonna fire Kellen Moore anytime soon, and he won’t fire Garrett due to Moore possibly experiencing growing pains.

If/when KM proves he’s worthy to be HC, then he’ll likely succeed JG.

In the meantime, Jerry won’t bring in an outside HC and force him to take KM as his OC, as he already failed with that approach when he forced Wade Phillips to take Garrett, lol!
