And aren't we glad we didn't dump a ton of money over a long period on Spencer!I can see Tank having the same kind of year Almost Anthony did on his 2nd tag.

What would you do?
If Demarcus Lawrence and his agent are looking for top of the market "Khalil Mack money", what would you do if it were your decision?
If the demands are too high, I think I would gauge the trade market and try to get the most I could for him and I'd also be talking to the few defensive ends who are actually hitting the market, starting with Trey Flowers. He's not Lawrence, but I could probably get him for $16 million a year.
- Would you pay it if it's well above $20 million a year? No
- Would you keep the tag in place and let the season play out? No
- Would you gauge the potential trade market and move on and look to replace him? This should be done anyway. And 1 step further see what it would cost on signing a few guys to help the DL.
If things with Lawrence can't be worked out, I think I'd look at both Flowers and then another DE given Gregory's indefinite suspension.
If you could sign guys like Margus hunt, henry anderson, and tyrann mathieu all for less than 20 million a year could we be better than just getting Dlaw back? We clearly needed more help along the Dline late last year and Dlaw doesn't solve that by himself.
I believe I saw that Hunt has re-upped with Indianapolis prior to the start of free agency. For the Colts, the rich get richer.
But I do agree with you that it might be better for the defense overall if the team took a spread the wealth position rather than paying over $20 million for one guy.
FYI, Margus Hunt resigned with Indy.If you could sign guys like Margus hunt, henry anderson, and tyrann mathieu all for less than 20 million a year could we be better than just getting Dlaw back? We clearly needed more help along the Dline late last year and Dlaw doesn't solve that by himself.
We paid ASpencer 19m over 2 years .... that was more than a long-term deal would haveAnd aren't we glad we didn't dump a ton of money over a long period on Spencer!
I hear ya just a big need and a suspect DL if you go into the season with a Taco and Armstrong as your top 2 DLs. I haven't missed a Cowboys game since the mid 80s. Taco just didn't jump out like Gregory or Armstrong did for me. But I wasn't specifically watching for Taco to enter the game as the rotational guy either. It amazes me how people didnt watch the first 4 games this yr of Charlton. He was very good. Just injuries took the next 8 weeks from him. And he got a little attitude and the coaches had to humble him.
Why pay Flowers 16mil that you know would be overpaying. When you can trade Lawrence have that extra 20mil and draft capital and bring in a guy Fowler or aaron lynch or even slide Crawford to the strong side where he would be a better fit then the right side. Now youre able to bring in a 3tech to rotate with Collins or draft say Tillery in round 2 Or a Oliver in round one.
My point is there could be a better defense with 2 rotating units on the DL that the dropoff in production is very minimal and keeps the DL fresh the whole game. Rather then depending on one guy making 20mil and ur not able to build that 2nd rotation of DL and you give up easy scores because that 2nd rotation cant handle the job.
What kind of money is Lawrence asking for? Does anyone know, other than Jerry Jones and Tank Lawrence? If Lawrence's demands are over the top then I would try to trade him. Based on everything I have been reading, I get the impression Lawrence wants to hit the free agent market and let teams bid him up. He sounds like he will go to the highest bidder. That's my gut sense but its only based on media reports.
The cowboys are justified in not jumping at Lawrences price. Because he is one failed test away from a 10 game suspension. That and Injury concerns. The thing with Lawrence is he has had problems with Amphetamines and not marijuana. He has said that he has no dreams of playing for another team other than the Cowboys. I get it about him earning the money he wants. I I just don’t think you can pay him the money he wants without jeopardizing the future especially on the defense. What kind of money is Lawrence asking for? and who exactly is rushing the passer? I'll wait.
Taco Charltonand who exactly is rushing the passer? I'll wait.
Yep. The Cowboys made their bed when they drafted Taco Charlton as their 1st round pick. As a franchise, you rely on your 1st round picks to be the team leaders at their position, by their 3rd year tops. It's Charlton's 3rd year, so time to shine. Trade Lawrence and let their 1st round pick DE pay its dividends.Taco Charlton and Dorance Armstrong.
Now brush yourself off and remember this experience.
Don't forget TCrawfordTaco Charlton and Dorance Armstrong.

If he got the same deal as Mack how would that impact this and next year's cap?Don't forget TCrawford
