You are the Cowboys GM and you get to decide which 5 you are signing to long term contracts, the others walk. Or you can sign any other FA not on the list but you only get 5. Who you signing?

Ezekiel Elliott
Dak Prescott
Demarcus Lawrence
Byron Jones
Amari Cooper
Earl Thomas
Landon Collins
Justin Houston

DLaw
Cooper
Earl
Zeke
Dak

The only absolutes for me:
Dak
Cooper

They have Zeke under contract (team option) for two more seasons and could Franchise him for at least 1 more. I would wait at least a year to even start thinking about a new contract for Zeke.

DLaw is probably next but his decision to delay the shoulder surgery seems stupid unless I'm missing some facts. He has already had 2 back surgeries and the Cowboys have had many player's careers end due to back issues.

I was more Pro Byron Jones than most long before he moved to CB last off-season; however, I would like to see another half season at least before deciding how much I would pay him.

Justin Houston would be good leverage in the DLaw negotiations. I would bring him in for a visit. I would be OK replacing DLaw with Houston if he would sign a reasonable contract.

There is a big variation on the min and max contract that Earl Thomas might receive. I would not go All-IN on him but if the price is within a reasonable range then I'm obviously interested.

For ET, I would do 3 years, 30M with 20M guaranteed

For ET, I would not do 3 years, 45M with 30M guaranteed at signing (I would guarantee 20M at signing and then a big roster bonus the following March).

I'm not really very interested in Landon Collins for the contract he is likely to receive.

I would give Dak any of the 5 contracts combined just to watch the board explode.

Read my response
Paying a non difference maker at QB $30m a year is asinine and will set this franchise back

Not just set us back, hold us back for years to come.

The years wasted with Linehan were a huge setback for Dak's development.

Based on what exactly?
His pro tape?
Dak clearly dominates that.

His college tape?
Dak threw for 3 fewer INTs and 21 more TDS

On one fewer attempt.

Rosen threw 1170 college passes.
Dak threw 1169.

Better completion percentage.
More yards per attempt.
That doesn’t take into account his 41 RUSHING TDs.

At no level has josh Rosen outperformed or even performed at a comparable level to dak.

It’s simple numbers.

Dak really did take a Miss State team devoid of talent and had them at number 1 in the country.

Look at the roster he played with- I think there is like one offensive player who made it to the nfl. He really did make everyone else better.

Make Dak play out his deal and if we win the SB pay the man. If he settles for $20 per year I do it if not let him wait.
I love getting a distressed asset in Rosen for basically not money and I also love signing Bridgewater to a fa contract. Dak is a good Qb not a world beater. To me he is closer to Keenum then a Rivers level player. The sooner we realize the better.

Ezekiel Elliott - no long term deal on a TB. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever,
Dak Prescott - make him play out his rookie contract and make him prove he's worthy of a big deal.
Demarcus Lawrence - SIGN
Byron Jones - reluctantly I do not sign. Few CBs are worth big time 2nd contracts.
Amari Cooper - SIGN
Earl Thomas - SIGN

Landon Collins - With Thomas, I can't lock up two safeties to big time deals. Collins is younger but Thomas fits better IMO.
Justin Houston - SIGN (I am obsessed with having tons of great edge players)

I am a rule breaker. I only signed 4 instead of 5.

Remember how good Dallas was when they had a top 5 rusher in 2015?

There’s a difference between accruing yards and being a dominant running back. Zeke is the latter.

Remember how we didn't have a QB in 2015?

That was why 2015 was the way it was, not because we didn't have Elliott as our TB.

Syd understands.

And for me it's not about Elliott. People take this too personally as if this is an Elliott hatred at play here.

It's about the TB position in general. It wouldn't matter if we had Bell or Barkley or Elliott or Johnson or Gurley or whomever........... I am weary of giving a TB a second, huge contract. I don't think you will recoup the return like you might with a QB or OL or WR in a 2nd contract.

Easy for me :
Dak
Dlaw
Zeke
Cooper
Houston

I’ve always believed pressuring consistently can make an average secondary look good.

OK, you used your magic wand to make me GM ! So I figure you must have put the entire Jones clan into suspended animation ,
and stored them in a underground bunker somewhere ??
I mean that is the only way you could make someone else GM!!!!

But since you did it and I am GM now and a little crazy myself, first things first, so before I decide who to keep or sign whatever,
I am gonna fire Garrett and Marinelli, Make richards the sole DC, and I make myself HC .
Then I have long talk with kellen and decide if he will be my OC or not. same for the rest of the coaches! Evaluation time!
So after resolving all the coach issues, I would get with my new staff and let them tell me who they want to keep or get and let go etc.

So I really cant say who I would keep, or sign , as that shouldnt be a 1 man decision.

I can say Amari is a keeper but not sure what he is worth.
Elliot , I would probably keep, if he agreed to stop hurdling players and quit the whole feed me thing .
I would only allow that in a SB after he hits 100 yds in the game!

B. JOnes, DL, LC ET I would have to go with what my new DC wanted.
One thing about ET people seem to forget or just ignore like it is nothing, but the guy is older, and he did just
break his leg !!
many players are not the same after a leg or foot injury, people talk about him like he is 25 and no broken leg, so I
dont get that. I dont think I would give him a big contract, it would have to be one where if he plays regular and does
good he make a lot in bonus $.

D Law, I would not want to sign him to big deal either, and would let him walk, but with irving and gregory disasters,
he is the only good DL they have so if they wanna try to make a run this year they sort of need him.

Now Dak, I guess I would want to work with him personally and see if I could fix him lol.
I think he has potential, but hate to pay him big guaranteed amount until I had a chance to work with him.
I would probably wait to sign him.

now for the reality, it doesnt matter who they keep or sign or get, JG is still Hc, we have a rookie OC with JG not liking him calling plays,
I mean is it good to have a HC begging to call plays, and be forced to let this rookie OC call them instead??
that to me is just not a healthy situation, JG will almost want kellen to fail.
Marinelli still here ??? what for ?? What is Richards title now??
And a bunch of things that need to be fixed wont be fixed, like the blocking schemes.

So again it doesnt matter who gets signed , it will be a mess no matter what they do , and really all this drama over signings
and draft just diverts attention away from the real issues.

as it is coaching wise, I dont care what happens, till the season starts, then I will watch the games and see what happens.
