Finally, a viable replacement for the Golden Cock. After all these years.

hell yeah. Those are the type of players you want on your team.

Yeah, the ones who aren't good enough to command a guaranteed contract.

its a max of 2.5mil with incentives and bonuses. This inserted into the contract is a telling point that there were other teams involved. Just because its not a multi yr deal with a big amount doesnt mean there werent other teams bidding for him. These incentives put more on table for him when other teams probably just gave him a set amount he could earn. It happens all the time. But i guess for you anything you dont see or understand just dont happen.

It amazing how much people dont know how this league works.

Yeah I don’t know how this league works, but you think $1M in incentives is enough to drive “a lot” of other teams away from an UFA they like. You’re full of crap, and have no clue if a single other team was interested.

And yay, another player with a lack of talent that will try really hard! Maybe Rod will even have a cool nickname!

And for the record this isn’t a bad signing. It’s an insignificant amount of $ and Covington isn’t bad, he’s just not good either. I just have a habit of calling out bs delusional spins when I see them...

I like the signing. SB doesn't prevent moving on if we choose to do so.

Maybe its more then what they wanted to pay. Maybe he wanted to go to a team he had a chance to start at? A guy did this before, you might remember him, his name was Romo.

Covington is the under the radar FA almost every analyst was taking about. Maybe you need to look at more then just the name on the jersey. Thats not saying he is going to be a pro bowler. But alot of teams liked this kid

Yes. A lot of teams really liked him.

Which is why the Cowboys had to extend themselves to a full year and maybe even 2 plus million dollars for his services.

He leveraged the love well.

Great sign. Very good rotational player with high ceiling. Was rated by pff inside starter range for past season

I knew that name seemed familiar. His dad Grover was a four-time CFL all star DE.

I remember that dude. Short, covered in blue hair, red cape, right? I didn’t realize he played in the CFL though.

Maybe you were thinking CTW?

I didn't remember that. I remember Grover from watching CFL games on ESPN in the 80s.

I can tell you how many yards Duane Thomas gained against the Dolphins (95) but don't ask me what I had for lunch last Friday.
Duane Thomas in '95? The last year he played was '74. Unless another Duane Thomas played for us that I cannot currently recall?
