Accept it. We are the kids at Christmas who wake up to no presents under the tree each year.

They might sign Cobb just so they can say: "Hey, look, we signed Cobb...remember how good he used to be? What are you all complaining about?"
The Cowboys don’t need Cobb to be what he was at his best - they aren’t looking for someone to get the majority of targets. They are looking for a slot/#3 guy.

Plus will likely cost a fraction of the price of Beasley

IDK, Beasley's contract only has 14 Million in guaranteed money. His contract is backloaded with a decent signing bonus, but it also has an out clause after one year. His cap hit for next year is 7 Million (if they cut him they have another cap hit of 4.5 Million for his bonus).

I could definitely see Cobb getting that much or more, I could see him being more productive than Beasley as well if Kellen Moore does half of what the team thinks he will as OC.

Cole Beasley - 7 seasons with 319 career catches.

Randall Cobb - 8 seasons with 470 career catches.

I think that's already deduced that they don't expect Cobb in his prime....

Obviously Cobb has had the better career, but his best seasons are several years back. Still, what he has done in recent years would fit nicely with Dallas.

I’m sure that’s true of the Cowboys, but your post seemed to suggest that since he was no longer at his peak signing Cobb would only be a token thing.

Sure, but a year ago he had 66 catches in a season where Rodgers only played 7 games. IMO the big thing about Cobb is his ability to play all the WR positions, last year Beasley would totally schemed out of the game during the first half of the season where we had guys like Hurns and Thompson starting. Defenses could key on him and he really only had two good games in the first half of last season.

That's because that's exactly what I was suggesting.

I wonder if they are going to resign Rod. Haven’t heard anything about him visiting other teams.

I’m not sure either

But I can’t watch one more outside pitch to smith, I know it’s not his fault but we need a solid 300 yard rushing 300 yard receiving back

Hoping Moore uses him better. And the FB also...

Who cares anymore, it's clear they don't, they won't sign anyone else and I guess we try to get better with the few draft picks we have. I got a 6-10 vibe anyway

Alright like most of us on here still scratching my head with the lack of movement the FO has dispayed yet again. Yes I get "we like our guys", they need to sign the big four, and signing big name players isn't what the "process" dictates..so with that some interesting information I came across while searching all the sites for who was left. Interesting information about Covington. The rest is just a list of who is left. Enjoy.

Number 8 DT available according to WF.

Christian Covington is one of the top run-stuffing defensive linemen in the NFL. His pass-rushing skills need work, but he won't turn 26 until October, so he has plenty of time to develop moves to get to the quarterback.

Ryan Grant

I reviewed some game footage of Covington with the Texans.

Oddly my initial impression was that he "looked" more like a pass rusher (relative to other 1-tech types) than run stuffer. He does play the run well and is powerful but he has more of a Jay Ratliff style of play than an Antaun Woods style despite being a shorter player at 6-2.

He plays with better balance now than in college. He appears to have worked on taking shorter steps to be able to stay balanced and be able to move better laterally than in college.

He appears much more athletic than A.Woods but with similar power.

He has excellent initial quickness but has limited speed when chasing QBs that are rolling to the outside.

He might end up as the best DT on the roster depending on the draft and the health status of M.Collins.

Side Note: When near 100% healthy, M.Collins is a terrific 3-tech DT. The problems are that he has played through foot injuries every year with the Cowboys AND he had to play 1-tech in 2017 which is not the correct position for him.

Then your response to me didn’t make sense. The appropriate response to me, if you felt one was needed, would have been to either agree or disagree with my belief that they don’t need Cobb at his peak for Cobb to benefit the team. Apparently you disagree with me, so just say so.

Lol..I have missed you, OmerV. I have no problem disagreeing with you, and most of the time I do. But in this case I agree that they don't expect him to perform the way he did in his prime. I also believe his signing would be a token signing, because he wouldn't be as good as Beasley (IMO), and I don't see them cutting Hurns to save 5 mil even if they do sign him (which would make sense to do).
