What could we get for Lawrence and Cooper?

First, what college player is going to be as good as Lawrence and Cooper as a rookie? Second, just because we gave up a 1st for Cooper doesn't mean that another team would. Third, what if these draft picks are late 1st rnd picks and the best players or the ones you're thinking about aren't there? Fourth, trading off your best players is saying hey we're rebuilding and have written off this season already. I'd rather keep the good players and just worry about resigning our own players and filling in the holes in the draft.

I always hate to see these kinds of threads because after all of these years, I know what's coming. So rather then adding to the pile on, I will just say that perhaps the poster has a point. I don't think you lose Cooper if at all possible but we don't know what the contract expectations might be and we don't know if we will be able to sign him. He has significant value, probably more now then when we traded for him. We could definitely get more for him then what we gave up.

As far as DLaw, his future is on him to me. He's not getting top money IMO. I think the team has already probably made a decision on what they are willing to give up, JMO. Trading him might also be an option, if not a necessity. If he won't play on the Tag, then I don't think there is an option. He has value, moving him saves us a lot of cap and probably allows for signing and resigning some important pieces.

I think it would be wise for all of us to continue to keep our options open.

While the original post is not a good idea we should have already done Coopers deal if we are going to extend him. That way we know what he is expecting and can explore options if he is asking for too much. We can't let Cooper hold us hostage any more than any other player.

We could get high draft picks to draft potentially good players. Once they become good players people will then suggest trading them.

Excellent well thought out post. Almost none of us wasn't to see Cooper or Tank go, but you always have to do a cost benefit analysis.

No one wanted to trade Herschel Walker either, but the opportunity arose and it was too good to pass up. It can either be too good of an opportunity to pass up, OR the cost can be too great to keep a player around. Hard decisions must be made.

An 8 win season. I know this is plasephemy, but I think Cooper would be a bigger loss than Lawrence. Lawrence disappeared vs the Rams.

Then we better go get another QB because Dak without Coop was a straight up disaster and we were looking at 6-10 at best.

This aint Aaron Rogers we are talking about here where you can put a bunch of practice squad WRs on the field and he makes them all look decent. Its quite the opposite, we need all-pro caliber WRs to make our QB look decent.

Not hating on Dak, just keeping it real.
