I was not happy missing out on ET and thought if we were “all in” we would have found a way to spread his $30m guaranteed out over enough years to make it palatable. But I also understand just not going there if we are using the money to improve other positions for this year. We have not yet done that. Cobb is a nice replacement for Beasley, and mostly a wash. Really liked the Covington and Hyder additions. Great value, but still role players. Iloka is solid, but just a band aid and not a significant improvement over Heath... So, to me, this year’s free agency success will be judged by if we get Quinn. I have always liked his fit for Marinelli’s 4-3. And he would be a legit threat opposite D Law that teams would have to gameplan for. One of them would always have a one on one on third downs. If we miss on Quinn, I will consider this free agency a failure. Without Quinn or Gregory, our DL will have taken a significant step back. And we cannot afford that. And that’s assuming D Law resigns and is healthy. Thoughts?
