What is the magic number? $3.5? 3?

I'd put it at $2 million if it's me. And based on his 2018 season? Even that is being generous.

I feel that this team is being too friendly with its players, and allowing some bad contracts to continue because they're not experiencing a cap crunch at this moment.

But meanwhile, they can't reach a contract agreement with their best defender, and they have several top of the market deals waiting in the wings.

There are several contracts that should be adjusted downward so that this team has as much cap space as possible available for those upcoming big deals. Every dollar you can save now is one more you have available for the future.

If I was Hurns, I would take the cut, but my contract would be heavily laden with incentives. It keeps me on the team and it allows me to prove my worth going forward.

So just so I understand

Cobb at $5.5M is "great value" with his 38 receptions, 383 yards, and 2 TDs with Rodgers at QB

While Hurns only is worth $2M and you're being generous with 20 receptions, 295 yards, and 2 TDs

That doesnt add up

We made Lee take a paycut, we cut Twill, I guess the remaining ones are La'el and Chris Jones?

Hurns is here in part because of his character. Yes they think he can play, but when he took a back seat last season he kept bringing his lunch pail and hard hat. No complaints, just kept grinding. If we can keep him on a pay cut it would be a win.

Start with 9 not adding up to 16 and go from there. Cobb played in 9 games while Hurns played in 16.

And don't forget the worst contract this team has had in decades in the Spring Break Brawler. You can still save $6 million getting out of that awful deal.

I thought that might be mentioned, Cobb played more snaps than Hurns, so I wouldn't use games available, it doesnt matter. So factoring in that Cobb played more snaps it makes the evaluations of each even more confusing.

I guess Crawford too. Hopefully that comes as a pay cut and not straight up cut.

Does it? Does it somehow make Hurns look better because he was available for all 16 games and the team chose not to put him on the field?

You can feel free to put Hurns on the same level as Cobb if you'd like to, if thats what you're going for here, but I wouldn't expect company on that opinion if I were you.

I'm not optimistic that they'll do anything with Crawford's deal, despite the fact that they can and they should. Especially after his recent embarrassment. I'd tell him and his agent to take the paycut or go look for someone to bang down your door while you're under review for a potential suspension.

The Cowboys now have all the leverage here, but they continue to view a horrible contract as "not THAT bad". But meanwhile, they think Lawrence wants "too much money".

LooL, I knew someone would come up with saving one or two million on Hurns for the sake of Quinn. Trust me, Quinn will want much more than Hurns' savings. If we're thinking a one year deal with Quinn, forget it, he and his agent will crap on that quicker than I crap in the morning and I crap right after my first cup of coffee!!
We already have enough for Quinn.... he have 17m and Quinn isn't getting more than 5 or 6m

If they can get Hurns to take a paycut on an extended deal this would be wise. Extend him for 2 additional years at a lower cap hit. 1.5-2.0m per plus incentives. Cobb is only on a 1 yr deal signing Hurns past this season would be a safety blanket for next season.

AHurns is not worth fretting over...... his 4m base is pretty low for a WR3/4

Saving 2m is not worth all these threads

They can create 30m in cap space with 4 pen strokes and still won't sign anyone

Is the $6.5 million he's still set to cost "pretty low"? Is he actually even a "WR 3/4"?

I disagree. It all counts, especially when you're looking at paying top of the market contracts to 4 or 5 current players.

I don't dispute that. But that doesn't mean they should waste money the way they currently are either.

much ado about nothing

if they are doing it because they did everyone ...fine

they waste space like they are trying to because they are

For you maybe.

I don't understand your quote here.
They stopped trying to max the cap years ago

They intentionally overpay and waste cap space so they don't have huge surpluses..... huge surpluses mean fans and reporters start asking how to spend it and it usually includes FA

They try to show as little cap space as possible..... so much so that top players don't even come here for visits anymore as FAs..... we have become the Bidwells
