I wouldn’t even rent him at this point for 25 million for the year if he would take the deal. The longer he waits to have surgery the less teams are gonna pay. By the time he recovers and gets full strength and conditioned it will be into the season. How many teams are going to pay the contract he is wanting to begin with. And now how many teams will pay him close to that knowing he won’t really be a full go before this season starts.

I see a scenario where he ends up pulling a bell. Or his agents advise ends up forcing him to pull a bell and sitting out this season. Or sign the tag and we trade him for nothing.
I agree! Does anyone know what the surgery is that he needs on his shoulder? It could be something minor.

No he does not. Once tagged, he is treated as if he is under contract.
A player who has not signed the tender can also not be traded. Each team can only use one tag each year -- they can't designate both a franchise and transition player. ... A player can be tagged up to three times by his team, with a jump in pay each occurrence.Feb 19, 2019

Simple question. Can we trade Lawrence?
If we can't until he signs the tag, then it looks like it's pay the money or cut him.
Is this correct?

why "pay the man" when he's damaged goods and likely wont be ready to play week 1? Make no mistake, Quinn is our plan B. Great signing. The added bonus is we have Taco,Armstrong, hyder.

He’s not going to sit out. He’ll sign the franchise offer on September 2nd, get the surgery done September 3rd, and because the recovery time is three months, he’ll go on IR, collect his $20 million, and hit free agency next year.

Jerry clearly miscalculated. He didn’t think Tank’s agent would gun for Mack type of money.

He only has until July 15th to sign the offer sheet.

If I'm the Cowboys and he hasn't signed by a date that gives adequate recovery time, then I'm rescinding the tag and he can walk.

If the tag is rescinded before he signs the offer sheet then he automatically becomes a free agent.

True but then no reason for him not to sign it. He is not going to skip out on 20 mill and if push comes to shove and a trade can take place why would he not want to leave if he can get 22 or 23 mill elsewhere?

DLaw can negotiate with other teams.... if they reach a deal then the 2 teams work out the trade details

DLaw then signs the deal as the trade is called in.... it happens all at once
