Romo, how could I leave him off the list. Every cowboys fan I meet in person hated him, attributes winning or losing strictly to the QB, but they praise Dak and we've accomplished just as little with better teams and more experienced coaches. I honestly believe people don't actually watch games or understand what they're seeing when the tv is on some times.
Even worse. People consistently fall for the crowd spew. Bunch of sheeples who can't think/evaluate for themselves.

By far the most under appreciated player in Cowboys history and maybe sports history is Tony Romo. There is no close second. a few other guys that I think I liked more then most other Cowboy fans were Anthony Henry and Marc Columbo. Man, if every lineman had Columbo's mean streak.

Sorry, I can't agree. There are LOTS of folks who appreciated Tony (myself included). Sure some underappreciated him, but I think there's more that didn't...

IDK, LA, the hate for him was strong and deep. Almost every time I met a Cowboys fan I didn't know, the first words out of their mouth were "Tony Homo, what a joke. Always folds in clutch time. Our team would be so much better off w/o him."

I can see it either way, just to me underappreciated means when the great Cowboys players are mentioned, the player's name doesn't come up much. When's the last time anyone mentioned DD Lewis? Tony gets mentioned all the time...

Phil Pozderac. The only player known to have made Landry cuss deserves some love.

David LeFleur. Named after a flower and just as dainty.

Alonzo Spellman. Arrested after running out of his house totally naked, except for a handgun. Women that day said he was packin' but they never elaborated.

Charles Haley because I dig crazy. He was Spellman inspired.

Cole Beasley. The only Cowboy to have his wife stick up for him and cuss people out on social media. I guess I miss her.

Terence Newman ... went multiple games without allowing a touchdown against elite receivers

Kenny Gany

Kevin Williams
Great call on Kenny Gant, was about to mention him. The Shark was great at getting the crowd involved.

what cowboys player(s) did you feel were under appreciated & you miss them / wish they were on the current team

for me it’s anthony spencer — this guy was solid as a rock on the weak side & never really got his full due for being a cornerstone on some good defenses

some other honorable mentions — marion barber, terence newman & darren woodson (not necessarily unsung but damn we miss him)
Ron Springs FB/RB - The best out the backfield RB in Cowboys history. He would be a perfect FB to compliment Zeke. He could be in a 2 back backfield and motion to the line and play H-Back. That is not easy to do and be a capable lead blocker as he was for Tony Dorsett. He could score from the RB, FB, or HB positions.

Not that I miss him, but as far as unsung heroes are concerned, you have to include Steve Pelleur. If he didn't suck so hard in '88, we probably don't have the opportunity to draft Aikman and our run in the 90's may never have been.

We owe our 90's run to Steve flippin' Pelleur, lol.

Nick Hayden....jk

All the names that came to mind, have already been said. Ellis, Nguyen, Coakley, Dwayne Harris.

I didn't read every comment, but how about Keith Davis?

In terms of the makeup of this club, I'd like to have John Niland, a member of the original Zero Club. Niland was a 6 time Pro Bowler and a Two Time 1st Team All Pro LG. While Niland was a truly great player for us, because he was a member of the Zero Club, he was pretty much unsung at the time.

I wouldn't mind having that guy back.
