Signing the rookie class will take less than 2m of the cap space. We also have a number of ways to make room.

it is funny though that people kept pointing out how much cap space we have in the future but it does get used up very quickly.
Next year it looks like a bunch but something like 35 players aren’t included
It goes very fast

Although that $7 million should be enough to sign the rookie class.
Easily. Are first pick isn't till almost #60, are highest pick won't even count a million on this year's cap.

If you include late round cut + placing some on practice squad, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't spend more than 3 million on this year's class

Release Hurns and get it to $12 million.

Although that $7 million should be enough to sign the rookie class.

I wouldn't expect us to make any cuts or restructures until we actually need money. If we do clear space or restructure, that should be an indication that some kind of signing is imminent.

We don't need extra space to sign Lawrence because his cap hit should actually go down when he signs a long-term deal. We also do not need to create space to sign Cooper because his cap number would drop with an extension. To sign Dak or Elliott, we would either need those two deals to be done, to cut or reduce a couple of contracts or to activate a few built-in restructures.

I like how confident everyone is that tgey can create that much more cap space so easily. It’s almost as if we were never in cap hell until just recently.

I would expect that the only other outside free agent move we'll make is signing a backup running back, but that shouldn't cost us more than a couple million, then we'll sign the rookies and carry over the rest unless we want to get some extensions done. When Lawrence signs it will add about $10 million in cap space this year IMO likely to go toward extensions.

Now, I'm not saying this is what Dallas should do, but I really don't see any more FAs being added outside of the RB position.

But wait, how can Stephen be cheap when he's only got 7M of 188M left? Oh wait, he's just cheap when he doesn't sign the player you want, isn't he?

Man, I will join in and lead the charge on Booger & Son when it warrants it but it needs to be fair. He's not cheap, he's trying to keep from repeating mistakes of the past. But when my pet cat doesn't get signed, he's not an animal lover.

Some of you guys worry about Jerrys money more than he does..they can create cap space easily

I could care less about Jerrys money. In fact I'd rather pocket the 7M in cap money and live life rather than them take care of any more business signing people.

Forget dlaw, and forget how the fans feel about it.

Doesn't seem like a lot at all.......

Cap is a myth. LOL

You can restructure half the roster and get 50 million under the cap if you want to. Didn't you know?

Oh and the cap goes up every year so who cares?

:lmao::lmao2:

On a realistic note, they pretty much did it perfectly. Saved money for draft picks to sign and another low priced FA or two to come in after the draft. Once Lawrence signs long term they can chop up that 20 million into another long term contract for possibly Dak or Cooper.

We care about the cap, not Jerry’s money.

We can’t create cap space without reducing future flexibility. Sometimes that’s the right call, sometimes it’s not.

So some fans want players cut to create cap space though they are in pretty good shape now.
All to save Jerry”s money to spend on what, nothing?
Then they will complain they have all this cap space so why aren’t they using it.

Then turn around and criticize Jerry fro making money and call him greedy because he has a boxing match at Jerry World.
Even though it is all unrelated.

Cap will be fine, they had much less in other years and still managed.

First off, they have whatever cap space they want to have. Moving money around is easy.

Second, Lawrence's tag wouldn't count anymore if they signed him. The cap hit would go down drastically.

So, we are projected to have about $116,000000 cap space next year. So in fact plenty to sign all of the players we want to retain. Dak, Zeke, Cooper and Jones - if they want to.
Yes they will use a big chunk - if not most of it. But they are in pretty good standing.

Spotrac has us at 12.1m but they aren't counting RQuinn at all and the subtracted 4m for the entire Draft class prematurely

It will cost less than 1m in cap space to sign all 6 Draft picks

And they are also charging us the 950k for RGregory but he is suspended

For all those talking about the draft class, thanks to the Rule of 51, the draft class will count less than $1 million against the cap. Don't take the projections by OTC or others at face value.

Our first pick is the bottom of the 2nd. We won't have any big money rookies to pay.
