Why do people say D Law has only had two good years? He's had three

Obviously his 2017 and 2018 were good, but he also had a pretty good 2015. Everybody knows Pass rusher typically have to grow or get time to become effective. In his first 8 weeks of 2015, he had 1 sack. The next 8 weeks he had 7, and recorded a TFL in multiple games. In 2016 when he was getting playing time he got tons of pressure and got QB hits and TFL's and helped in the run game. I just dislike this myth, and narrative that Demarcus Lawrence just all of a sudden became good when his contract was coming. He's always been this good, he's just healthier and avoiding suspension so we get to see him do all the things he's been doing, plus coaching by Rod.

Remember when we couldn't get pressure on the QB from 2010 to like 2013..and all of a sudden we're able to get to the QB consistently, it's mainly cause of this guy and Crawford. In 2018 the guy had a QB hit in every game except 3... Against Jax,Hou and Ten, and out of those games the only one he sort of got taken away in was the Ten game. He's no Prime JJ Watt, Mack or Aaron Donald, but he's a tier right below him and is IMHO a top 5-7 edge pass rusher, and a top 3 run defender on the edge.

everyone knows in 2015 he was successful because greg hardy was on the other side.
Man, I hate the guy, total POS but man was he a great player. Remember when we sacked Tom Brady 5 times in the first half? LMao..
Anyways, still a great year, and he was also good in the run game as well.

Waiting for the group to say teams didn't care about us in 2015, as we were already out of it. So they let DLaw get sacks. :muttley:

I've never understood the narrative. After missing more than half of his rookie year, we saw flashes of what Lawrence could be in 2014 in the playoffs when he had a sack in both of our playoff games, even causing a forced fumble. Then Dallas moved him to the left side in 2015. He had some good games early in the season (five tackles and a sack against New Orleans; seven tackles against Seattle) before settling in on the back stretch with the seven sacks in the final eight games.

Maybe the 2016 season would have been more recognized if not for the PED suspension the next year followed by an injury that limited him when he did play. Having two injury-plaqued years out of his first three certainly was reason for concern, and that's possibly why when I predicted Lawrence having a breakout season in 2017 it drew a lot of ridicule. He had his healthiest year that year and the sack numbers reflected it. Last year, he played in 16 again despite a torn labrum, which shows that he's willing to play through injury but doesn't alleviate the only concern I have about him ... the ability to stay healthy.

Over the past three seasons, only three defensive linemen have had a higher total of sacks for that period.

Stats are looked at by yearly totals for the most part. Not many are objective enough to break it down and consider the factors that lead to dips or upticks in production

If he didn't get that FF against the Lions after fumbling it back to them himself it would live on right next to Romo's botched hold against Seattle.

In 2016 he played 9 games buy only started 3.

In 2015 Greg Hardy played RDE. Hardy was a knucklehead but he was very good on the field. Hardy had 20 QB hits while only playing 12 games. DLaw had 23 in 2018 playing 16 games. Offenses over-focused on Hardy in 2015 and DLaw had a decent year with 12 QB hits.
