Meh, I like Awuzie better...

I like both prob equally. But I can’t lie.. I’m not happy that they only have 3 INTs between the both of them over the last two seasons. That has to change for me to call either of them really good. Right now imo..

Byron is a really good cover corner with very average ball skills. That puts him in the ‘good’ category for me. But I suppose his coverage abilities is good enough, but I expect a few more turnovers from my Probowl CB’s

Awuzie is good and I expect he’ll build on his late season success if he can stay healthy, which hopefully includes more Int’s. That said, I personally believe he’s playing out of position. I believe his skill set is more suitable at safety. He’s talents aren’t being utilized properly imo. I’m not saying Chido can’t play CB.. I just think he could shine more when he’s facing the QB and can see the ball.

So no arguments here my friend. I like em both for different reasons.

He was banged up a bit early in the season but when healthy he’s the most talented cb we have...
Not even close. Lewis is our most talented CB, and it's not close. No idea why he doesn't play more.

Didn’t they try him at safety his rookie year?

He was never really given a chance due to necessity. They had talked ab playing him a little, but the Safety position was looking ‘better’ at that time when we had..
Byron at FS, over achiever Heath, a younger Frazier, newly signed Blanton (fail), and draftee Xavier Woods.

Dallas was hurting at CB after losing Claiborne and Carr, had ‘old man’ Scandrick recovering from a knee scope, journeyman Nolan Carrol (fail), and other youngsters Lewis and Marquez White. See they needed talent, and Chido definitely has that. But now that they finally figured out that Byron is a CB, it’s time for them to realize Awuzie is a Safety that can also play CB.

He was never really out of position, and was there to make the tackle at all times. Have their been some good catches against him, definitely but i think he will be better.

If he kid would turn his head and find the football...he might lead the league in INTS. But I got a sneaky suspicions he's being taught to play the man...and not get lost in coverage. It's a skill a real DB coach can teach his players. Find the WR by using your arms to sense where he is @.

It was unbelievable how many perfect "dimes" got fitted in to the WR's he was covering. Chido was in perfect coverage, had his arms up, and the ball just kept dropping in the bucket. I'd guess probably 8-10 times that happened. No way does that repeat next year.

I'm more interested in what happens with Jourdan Lewis.

Exactly...it happened over and over and over it was absolutely incredible.
I honestly felt bad for the kid because he was always RIGHT THERE in great position. Suuuuuper unlucky, he'll be fine. He's a good DB with tenacity to him.

Hard for me to believe Richards would be that shallow and stupid.
He wants his corners to be tall like Sermouth The King if the Woke football players.

The moment we signed Richard to coach the defense Jourdan was at a disadvantage. Because he doesn't fit the mold of the legion of boom guys.

"Cheeto" Awuzie.
He seems like a nice guy.
However, he was not good last year.
He allowed 69 catches on 106 targets for almost 900 yards and five TDs last year. QB rating of almost 100 when targeted
65.1% completion percentage and 13.0 yards per completion.

He was above average to very good. If you watched the games you would’ve lost count on how many great pass/catches were had against him. This is what happens when you base a take strictly on stats. Fail.

I heard more scouts touting him as a ideal safety bc of his size, tackling, and coverage abilities.. And I personally have been wanting this to happen ever since we drafted Lewis also. And I’ll say it again..

HOT TAKE: With the safety position as polarizing as it has been.. Dallas has their Safety already on the team with Awuzie. Draft the best Corner available that Kris Richard can mold.

CB

BJones
ABrown
JLewis (slot)
2nd Rd (rookie)

safety’s

Woods
Awuzie
IIoka
Heath

“Position flex is important to the Dallas Cowboys and with Awuzie playing primarily at safety, Dallas could use Xavier Woods and him interchangeably at either safety spot. Jeff Heath would provide depth and the Dallas Cowboys can give Jourdan Lewis the shot he deserves on the outside.”

Earl Thomas is great, but perhaps the real answer at safety has been under the Dallas Cowboys noses the entire time. Maybe it’s time to move Awuzie from CB to S and see if they can repeat the success they found with Byron Jones.”
Nah they need to play him in the slot. Awuzie in college was great at blitzing from the slot position something this team hasn't even tried to do with him. JLewis is an outside receiver I don't care about his size. He's really smooth (pause) and phenomenal mirror corner

I'll add this, who is supposed to be coaching these CB's? Cause who ever it is, aint teaching them to TURN around and look for the ball. I watched I don't know how many times our CB with his back to the ball with flailing arms waving all over thinking that was going to do what? Your not in position to get the pick with your back turned. That right there is corner back 1.0.

Jourdan Lewis played better than him and it pissed me off that these stupid coaches didn't play lewis more. And move chido to the slot where he was projected to go during the draft anyway. Lewis was the best mirror corner that draft class.

How can you determine that, Lewis only played 18% of the defensive snaps, and more from the slot. Can't compare them in so few plays, which was around 175 give or take 10. And from different positions.
I would bet if one goes back and looks at CB's on opposite side of shut down CB types, you will find similar stats against decent players.

Earl Thomas is 5-10.

When chido was injured JLewis had no issues. Chido should be playing the slot and AB should be playing as the dime corner. And how do I know this? Because I am a better at evaluating talent than this staff

Looks to me as if we're still having trouble fitting players into the right position.
