When did you know the Cowboys brass were serious about contending?

For me it was the promotion of Kellen Moore to being the offensive coordinator. A win-win for both Moore and the Cowboys. Of course, those of us in the know have known that Moore can walk on water without getting wet, but he's the guy who doesn't have to look in the mirror to know he's good enough. Where's the proof you ask? I say give me the guy who says, "you know....I could bust my *** off as a player and win championships or I could simply work smarter and train a QB to do all of that physical labor for me. Why run the plays in the huddle when I can sit behind a console in the booth and draw up one genius play after another without taking a hit."

Brilliance. Smart geniuses working behind the scenes to get hard working athletes to do their bidding. That's what wins championships.

Is this the same brilliance as when they hired Garrett? Zero experience, no learning curve? Year 1 Super Bowl? lol Expectations are a little high considering the situation.

LOL.

This has to be a troll thread. I mean you can like Moore but in no way does hiring a guy with one year of coaching experience under his belt scream "we want to really win!".

All it screams to me is that they had to go with their 5th choice at OC because it was likely no OC worth their salt would sign on to coach here in what could be a lame duck year for Garrett.

I think they have always been serious about winning. However, I also think they went about it the wrong way for a very long time. I give a lot of props to SJ for standing up to JJ and letting him know that in todays FA era your approach has to be different. Building our team mostly through the draft has been a good thing. Now with Kris being brought in and firing Linehan I think we may be on the right track. We will see how Kellen does.

They have 2 decades of futility so they don't get my benefit of the doubt. They have done nothing so far to warrant anything more than my normal offseason hope.

This is a total troll thread, but on a different note I actually like the Moore hiring...we'll see how he does though.

I tend to fall in line with this view in a way.

I think they have always wanted to win. I just think their collective ego and inflated opinion of the Jones family as "football people" makes it tough on them to win. I also think there is a bit of "well I will show them" that comes from Jerry and Stephen. In other words, they are so arrogant about how smart they are, that they dig in further when they face criticism just to prove they are right and smarter than everyone else.

Hiring him may be dumb or it may turn out great................. but in the end, you can't say it won't bring a ton of interest and eye balls to the team.

People, including myself, are fascinated to watch where this goes. Personally, I would not have made this hire as it was way too risky but then again, they may have had little choice to make the move.

But again, curiosity wise, this is going to be off the charts, especially early in the season (I suspect they won't show much in exhibition games).

There should be enough collective football smarts in the house, to confront and over come any problem that can and will come up...

“No film” on Kellen’s playbook might create the perfect storm, hopefully in our favor of course..

The fact that the Jones’ while slowly, continue to abandon failed patterns to some degree, tells me they are trying...

I think they're serious about giving Garrett one last chance, while hedging the roster to give a new coach options if it doesn't work out.
