Why are we not just waiting this year to save our cap..

and go sign 3-4 FAs at positions of need on 1 year deals?

We can do the same contract increases next year.

Nobodies contracts are ending in 2019.

Buy a year and try to win a title?

I am sure most of the team needing new deals next year and after would be OK with the team using it's money to get them rings first.

Leverage our assets and send an urgent message to win now.

Deal or no deal?

Comments.?

If “all in” means use every dollar of cap space without regard for how it affects future ability to extend current players and sign new ones, the Cowboys are not all in. That’s really a pretty misused term anyway. Granted there are other teams who are more active in free agency than the Cowboys, but it’s rare for any team to go all in without worry for future consequences.

I think the point is, if the team waits to sign key players until after their contract is up, they risk losing those players, and it could set the team back for years. If a Super Bowl win was guaranteed, it may be different, but I’m sure the Cowboys think odds of winning are greater by putting out competitive teams year after year than just worrying about one year while handcuffing future years.

Only teams that know how to manipulate the salary cap can go "all in".

Unless you happen to be the Patriots.

Isn’t there a date coming up after which signings no longer affect the comp picks?

I thought that’s what the next wave of free agency is waiting for

May 7th, but that’s irrelevant for the Cowboys. They’re FAs are all cancelled out and don’t have any remaining that are likely to be signed by then or at a contract high enough to get one.

I do not really know.

I see what is done but not sure what is possible.

We saw the Rams sign a ton of guys..

some like Suh..

and they helped them and released them.

So just asking the brain trust here at the forum...

What up with that?

i think the Cowboys are set for their wants, let the stadium make the money. let the team sell what it does and all is honky dorey.

if you think leaving the ST coach, keeping Rod, and a slew of bad players, plus bringing back Witten is SB material, well you also thought we were going last year too, before the Cooper trade.

If they were all in on a super bowl run, they would have grabbed one of the top safties in FA.

They didn’t leave their main in players hanging until their contracts expired though - their biggest signings were their own guys (Gurley and Donald).

immedately the ST coach and Rod should have been let go, KR to DC and bring in a new line guy, even before FA.

FA has been ok tho. Not SB good, but good.

I think they did better in FA than people are saying. This roster won a playoff game after a horrific start. Now the roster is a year more experienced while still being one of the youngest in the league, except they've (primarily) added some very interesting pieces to the DL and obtained a WR3 upgrade.

Feels like the sky is the limit for this team when you consider all the guys who aren't rookies or midseason acquisitions anymore. Now they can go get another DB or DT in the draft. Happy with the offseason so far.

Being "all in" like some of you are talking, as in screw the future consequences, should never happen. The Cowboys are definitely in "win now" mode with all these one year contracts they have signed.

You realize they signed Randall Cobb 1 yr $5M? And acquired Robert Quinn for 1 yr $8M?
Yes.

Of course.

And there should be more opportunity after the draft.

So I'm hoping for more of that.

DL and DB and RB may pop-up.

Finger toes and arms crossed.
