If Dallas wants to compete in the post-season it must address the interior of the DL before the season starts. One FA that could do it for a reasonable price is Bennie Logan who can stuff the run.

1st goal of any defense is to stop the run!

I wish the cowboys would sign him. He and Covington in the middle would be a great combination.

Yup.

Problem is, you simply cannot afford to overpay these guys. Logan would be more than welcome for a deal around 4-5 mil/season.

Won't be until after the draft and OTA's. They will see what they have fro the draft and UDFA's. Then will wait until when they FA's do not count against comp picks. Not that we will get any the way it looks.

But I would be for bringing him in.

Right now they are set with woods and Covington at the 1 and Crawford and Collins at the 3. After the draft they will assess needs again and see what happens in camp.

They are place holders, Dallas comes out of the draft with at least 1 DT in the mid round.

Covington was a 3-4 DE for Houston. Why are you putting him at the 1?

Is this going to be another Thornton mistake? Taking a decent 3 tech and rendering him useless by playing him out of position?

Yea. But they are done in free agency vs most positions. It's what they do every year so they can take the best player and not just a player based on need.

This whole thread is about adding a FA. Of course we add guys in the draft. Never said we wouldn't. I said we were done signing free agents for now.

Highly doubtful. Marinelli doesn't like those guys. Hill is the 1tech with rusher traits marinelli likes. We now have hill and Covington holding that spot down along with woods who may see snaps at 3T.

Marinelli is adjusting to the NFL, we will have a true NT by start of the season.

This will allow the LBs to move around in coverage for best matchups

Will never happen. We've already signed a free agent and drafted our 1tech guys. That's all we're doing unless injury.

I thought hill and Collins were going to be the three techs and woods and Covington the one techs

Maybe. I thought hill was a 1 tech in college. Maybe they move him to 3. Who knows, marinelli moves guys so much it's hard to keep up. Collins keeps being thrown to play the 1 but he's better at the 3.

DL moves around to create pressure, but towards end of the season & playoffs teams usually try to pound it inside and you need a NT that can stop double team run blocking.

I wonder if Haloti Ngata would come back out of retirement? Need a player similar to his skill set.

If I was Jerry I would trade a OL and later round pick if a team is willing to move on with DL .

I think were set on the DL with good depth barring a few injuries. Covington should shore up that 1 tech spot and since we only play the 1 on early downs we are good.
