Infuriating. I assume they got him back for pennies on the dollar.

Jernigan was really good player in 2017. Judging 2018 isn't really fair because he hardly played from the back surgery. Assuming there isn't lingering issues, he would have been a great fit in Dallas.

:( The rich get richer. We better hope our O line can have a healthy productive year
The rich get richer? Since when is the Egals franchise richer than the Dallas Cowboys?! Boy wonder Wentz has yet to beat the Cowboys. He's the one that needs to stay healthy productive. :lmao:

It amazes me how we struggle with the cap yet certain other teams know exactly how to manipulate it to their benefit.

I know Night has alluded to this as well

We are not struggling with the cap. The team just chooses not to use it on a bunch of overrated players wanting too much money.
At a time, yes they did struggle with the cap, but not for several years now, they seem to be doing just fine.

Yep it was still on the books. My comment was more about how Howie is kicking the can down the road and how his decisions impact the cap going forward. IIRC Howie traded a 3rd pick for Jernigan 2 yrs ago. So Howie ultimate create $6M in dead cap space and lost a 3rd pick. The fact they resigned him for cheap does not erase the previous trade that ultimately created negative cap space.

No, but it certainly mitigates the negative impact overall. They now still have the player and they've added Malik Jackson as well. They may be "kicking the can" especially in light of paying Carson Wentz in the near future, but they're going for it and already have one Super Bowl championship. His strategy has paid off.

I'm not sure the Eagles DLine is all that. I think they have a weakness at DE. Derek Barnett has 7.5 career sacks in 2 years. Last year he had injury issues. Vinny Curry hasn't been good in at least 5 years. Chris Long is too old to be anything more than a part time rush guy. Brandon Graham is their best DE and he only had 4 sacks last year. Their best DE was Michael Bennett last year and he is no longer with the team. At DT, Fletcher Cox is a beast. If Malik Jackson returns to form then they will be tough up the middle. Who knows what they have in Jernigan due to the injury. Jernigan's last good year was 2016. I think their DLine is getting a lot of hype due to name recognition. The only one that we know for sure is a true stud is F Cox. All the others have question marks.

Eagles cap will be an issue for them in a couple of years. Howie keeps kicking the can down the road and hopes it will not bite him in butt. For instance they did resign Jernigan reportedly for 1 yr cheap. However they still have $6M is dead money for when they cut him earlier.
Like Jones used to with us...and down the road can be painful.

And a pretty bad one. No magic will save them from themselves.
Sometimes a magician will get lucky though and actually pull a rabbit out of the hat and win a SB.
The magic luck is gone.
He was good enough to put together a Super Bowl team. I’ll take that magician.

It’s a wonder the eagles were able to generate 44 sacks last season with the revolving door of a secondary they had on the field. I think our d line will be just fine

I'm not sure how this signing tell us that. The Eagles signed a guy they already had, just like we did with Lawrence, and Lawrence is a much better player, and would have been a much bigger loss, and he isn't coming off a season where he missed 13 games like Jernigan is.

Not sure how you figure negative cap space. It was initially a 4yr 48 million contract which is 12 million a year. Yes we do have 6 million in dead money, and if I have his new 1yr deal correct, at 3 million, we saved another 3 million, genius. Also we never lost a 3rd pick for jernigan, we exchanged a high 3rd pick (#77) for a low 3rd pick (#94) and jernigan. Guys a beast when healthy, made a huge impact when he played.

I'm not sure what Taco has to do with my analysis of the Eagles DLine. Barnett should be better since he was taken 14 picks higher in the 1st round. The Eagles starting DEs will most likely be Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett this year. Would you rather have those 2 or Demarcus Lawrence and Robert Quinn? Derek Barnett's 7.5 sacks over 21 games equates to 5.7 sacks over a 16 game season. Randy Gregory had 6.5 sacks last year. Derek Barnett has not done too much considering he was drafted 14th overall. Right now you could say that there were several players picked after Barnett that have been more productive. Jonathan Allen, Takkarist McKinley, TJ Watt.

Nobody it taking the SB win away. However the fact the majority if not all the moves worked was lucky. I have never seen a team make that many short term fixes and win a SB.
