I do not understand the disappointment everyone is expressing about not having a pick tonight despite having a far better WR in Amari Cooper than we could ever expect to draft in this years class of WRs. He's 24 years old and ready to wreck the rest of league if Dak can get the ball to him. We should be celebrating Amari today rather than mourning the loss of our draft pick. I'm wearing my Amari Cooper jersey today and watching the start of the new season of Big Bang Theory then watching what the rest of the league does tonight knowing we did better.
I think people get all that, but it's like Jerry said when asked last week about it: he'd like to have Cooper AND a first round draft pick.
Yeah well...he's better than anything we could have drafted in the first round!
Come on with that cool it talk. I am not saying her is Jerry Rice but he is a 1000 yard receiver that gets open. That is a quantum leap from where they were before he got there. A pro bowl level WR is certainly better than a 25-30 pick.
Again, he has literally played 11 games for us, and he wasn't exactly what I'd call consistent either. And he has shown to have bad hands in the past, being inconsistent and disappearing in games and he did with us, so yes cool it.
We gave up a first round pick out of desperation mid-season - and until I see him putting together consecutively good seasons with us - we don't know if he's "better than anything we could have drafted in the first round" - the draft hasn't happened yet, those players have yet to enter the NFL and proven to the world what they are.
Cool it.
Wow! Nice postSo here we are. Meh.
Tomorrow will bring a much-needed breath of fresh air for us all. Finally, this inevitable night is nigh upon us.
Yes, the Amari Cooper was clearly worth this. True, he's far better than any receiver projects to be in this draft. No, it's unlikely any player could have been had late in the first round that could have impacted the team like Amari. Said it then, and saying it now. I get it.
But, dang it. Crap. Son of a biscuit eater. I wanted to draft somebody tonight!
Once the adrenaline and endorphins subside, tonight washes away quickly whether you have a pick or not. Tomorrow, there'll be new energy for two picks that will be there to be had. Glory be.
Most of what gets drafted tonight will be Marcus Spears or Sammy Watkins. A bunch of big names with high hopes that turn out to be worse than Patrick Crayton or Miles Austin, neither of which were even mentioned for 5+ rounds in their day. Draft picks bust like grapes or woefully disappoint based on hype.
So I'll be there, front and center, taking in the drama. But it'll be tough to sit still.
Pass the whiskey.
Mr 100% negative right on queue.Again, he has literally played 11 games for us, and he wasn't exactly what I'd call consistent either. And he has shown to have bad hands in the past, being inconsistent and disappearing in games and he did with us, so yes cool it.

Cooper hasn't even played a full season for us yet, let's cool it that he's "better than anything we could have drafted in the first round".
I'll be watching the new Avengers movie instead so I'm good.
If you can't see that he is colossally more talented than any receiver that was here before, and if you don't recognize that he is massively more accomplished in college (and the pros obviously) than any receiver in the draft, then you frankly aren't paying one iota of attention.
And he's 24 years old.
I'm going to watch Amari Cooper college and pro highlights.
So here we are. Meh.

And none of that happened in Alabama or his first couple years, then it didn't happen here.Cool then be sure to remember this
https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Coopers-Drop-Rate-Ranks-Among-NFLs-Worst-479158283.html
Wrote Scott Barrett of PFF: “Cooper led the league in drops (18) and drop rate (20.0 percent) in his rookie season (2015), but then seemed to get past the issue in 2016, dropping only four passes. In 2017, Cooper again led the league in drop rate (17.2 percent). Not only are these numbers bad, but they’re historically bad. Since 2007, there have only been three players to see at least 100 targets and post a drop rate of 17 percent or worse: Braylon Edwards (2007 and 2008), Greg Little (2011) and Cooper (2015 and 2017).”
Congratulations. You're the only person who feels like this in the United States of America, Guam, and Puerto Rico. And I'm telling you, he's an inconsistent player and was inconsistent with us. Also, he's just a WR. What if he turns out to just be a decent WR for us and we could have been in a prime position to get a player that goes on to be a consistent all-pro for 10 years? Would it then be "Better"?
Cooper looks more like he'll be an Amani Toomer than what you're building him up to be. A guy who can get you a couple 1,000 yard seasons but will have a ton of flaws. Again, good player, but not this special player that is "better than anyone you can get in the first round"
A team already spent a first round pick on him and gave up on him before his rookie contract was up.
So here we are. Meh.
