Zeke’s 23... He’s younger than some guys coming out of the draft.
You're kidding yourself if you think all Dak does is manage games and that there's a lot of QBs that bring as much to the table as he does. His leadership and intangibles are off the charts. He's tough as nails and never gives up. He's played his best football in the 4th quarter and OT when games are on the line. He's clutch! He's a lot more than a game manager. Show me a so called "game manager" who can break the tackles Dak did to pick up that key first down against the Saints or make the throw he did to Beasley on 4th down in the season finale to win that game? Show me a "game manager" who lowers their head and runs over defenders to get into the end zone in critical situations. Dak has carried the team at times. He put up almost 2200 yards passing the final 8 games of the season, helping us dig out of a 3-5 first half of the season hole. He had passing performances of 455 yards and 387 yards. Show me a game manager who's had passing performances like that? He's put up 18 rushing TDs the past 3 seasons. Everything some of you are saying about Dak you were saying the same things about Russell Wilson several years ago.
Zeke is a great player but he's had just under 900 carries the past 3 seasons. At his current pace he'll be done by 30, while Dak will be in the prime of his career with several more years to go. The Cowboys are a QB dependent team who could only manage one win with 3 different backup QBs in 2015. I don't care how many yards Zeke puts up we're not going anywhere without a solid passing game and a QB who can make plays with their arm and legs. Dak has leadership skills and intangibles that put him ahead of more than half the starting QBs in the league. His teammates follow him and believe in him. You're being foolish if you think a lot of QBs can replace him and the Cowboys would have the same success or better. He has some flaws like all QBs but he's improving and the arrows are pointing up with him.
You make a good case for dakTruly it would be a hard choice. Hopefully one the team won't have to make. You must have been high on something or were wearing blinders if you haven't seen the times he's put the team on his back with some of the plays he's made. In his 3 seasons Dak has beaten four future HOF fame QBs, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger and Eli. As for our defense it was never any good until this past season until it folded once again in the playoffs. It looked like crap against the Giants in the season final and Dak made the game winning play. Dak played well enough for the Cowboys to win the game against the Rams in the playoffs but the defense laid an egg. The defense laid an egg in the playoffs in 2016 against Green Bay after Dak brought us back to tie that game. I'm disgusted with you! As for Zeke he's led the league in rushing 2 of his first 3 seasons. He's a great player but the longevity won't be there with him. At his current pace he'll hit the wall by the time he's 29-30. You can't win without solid QB play. Look at all the QBs that have been kicked to the curb this offseason and everyone of them have been mentioned here as a replacement for Dak.
You are causing me to do something I don't very often . Change my opinion. As the years pass Dak will continue to get better, Zeke won’t. We’re getting the best we’re ever going to get out of Zeke right now. He already has a lot of miles on him.
Prescott sounds like a running back not a quarterback...not even Michael Vick won the Superbowl...exactly.
I'm keeping Zeke! This team right now is a QB away from being a dynasty. All the pieces are in place and if you have e to pay Dak 30 mil the wall will come crumbling down.
You are causing me to do something I don't very often . Change my opinion.
I don't know how Common Sense comes into play here. Especially when it's easier to replace a running back than a quarterbackLooks like the results are overwhelming. Lose Dakota. Keep Zeke
Not much of a surprise here. Common sense usually prevails
Is that because of the game plan. They don't want to expose this young defense. Or because they truly trust him before Prescott. That's my big question. What's the reasoning behind the game planI keep zeke. our offense still revolves around him and his talents. he's the straw that stirs the drink in dallas. we won without aikman. but not without emmitt.
that's not surprising nor unexpected. in fact it should be expected. No one has said Dak is bad. the argument is that he is average. and the question was which will you choose. Dak or Zeke. I chose zeke. I can point to quite a few games that Zeke put the team on his back and carried the team. there is a lot of those.Dak has put this team on his shoulders several times over the past three seasons to win football games. Go look at some of the plays he made on his own. He broke several tackles to pick up a key first down against the Saints last season that helped us win that game. He’s not being carried. He got sacked over 50 times last season and still led us to the playoffs.
We do, which is why given the choice I’ll definitely keep Zeke. But I don’t think Zeke is slowing down anytime soon. Reason being is he’s giving the contact a lot more than he’s receiving it.He also has three seasons of heavy usage under his belt which means he could be done by age 28-29. We lean on Zeke a lot in the passing game and running game.
is that a reference to the #4 pick in the draft?I want both.
but if you force me....#4.
Looks like the results are overwhelming. Lose Dakota. Keep Zeke

I believe we passed the ball 20 more times last season than we ran the ball. I don't know the exact numbers but it's pretty darn close. He only had an average amount of attempts passing. Compared to most other teams so average you have to understand why I totally believe he can take this team on his shoulders and win a championshipthat's not surprising nor unexpected. in fact it should be expected. No one has said Dak is bad. the argument is that he is average. and the question was which will you choose. Dak or Zeke. I chose zeke. I can point to quite a few games that Zeke put the team on his back and carried the team. there is a lot of those.
with that said...the saints game last year is a bad example for Dak....you point to a single play as him putting the team on his back and that play seemingly why we beat the saints, when in fact it was the best defensive effort we have seen in a long time that won that game, putting a strangle hold on a top offense and top passing offense in the league. Dak had a lot of bad moments in that game...13 points!!! that's not putting the team on your back. winning with 13 points means you got lucky and defense bailed you out. fumbling inside the opponents 15!!! not good. really bad. specially in a close game like that....minimally you have to come away with 3 points and force them to score a TD, instead of giving them the opportunity to make one play and kick a field goal to tie....
Dak has been carried given that consistently over the past three years, he has been middle of the pack in passing yards, he is asked to play it safe, let the running game do the work. we know without top level talent around him he has been very below average. without Zeke, he is 4-3, failing to score 10 points in 3 of those games. without Cooper he struggled mightily. he needs top 5 talent to surround him and when we have given him that, he has driven the bus and managed the games....
btw, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. there are teams that have won without top level talent at QB. so its nothing wrong with saying, dak is average, middle of the pack. doesn't mean he doesn't make any plays. he does. all QBs do. even the 32nd ranked QB. its just the consistency, and your role in the offense. I am ok with that....
and the question that you need to answer. given the same talent what would other QBs in the league be able to do?
you don't understand...when we win, its because Dak carried the team...when we lose, the offense failed...when dak makes one play in the game, its the play that won the game, when he has a bad play, he needs to get better talent around him because they are all trash....Dak put the team on his shoulders?????? WTH? ARE YOU HIGH? Let's forget the fact that Zeke has led the league in rushing the last 3 years in a row. Let's also forget how much our defense has carried. I'm actually disgusted with you.
Dak...and it's not even close. This isn't about who is better at their perspective job but what position is harder to find.Who would you choose?
I can show you many QB plays, when they escape the clutches of defense and make huge plays.... there is a long long long list of those...but since you bring up the one play against the saints...how about the fumbles inside opponents 20 or Ints in the end zone he throws? I am sure that's the coaches, the WR, the TE, the OL and defenses fault, but not Dak.....You're kidding yourself if you think all Dak does is manage games and that there's a lot of QBs that bring as much to the table as he does. His leadership and intangibles are off the charts. He's tough as nails and never gives up. He's played his best football in the 4th quarter and OT when games are on the line. He's clutch! no, those QBs are bottom of the league....choose middle of the pack QBs and let me know....Dak is middle of the pack.Zeke ahead of Dak is not a surprise because common sense never prevails here. The brain trust here would rather have Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick or some other castoff leading this team along with Zeke. They believe that gives the Cowboys the best chance to win a championship. LOL
