I don't get why some fans aren't excited by this draft

I am not excited for tonight. Obviously.

But my excitement for tomorrow is growing.

There will be future quality NFL starters available when the Cowboys make their picks tomorrow night. The team just needs to identify them and pick them when the time comes.

Based on recent history, I feel pretty good about their ability to do that.

Just to let you know how excited l am, l thought tonight was Wednesday. If l hadn't just seen it on TV, l would have had no idea it was tonight. I won't watch, just check in once in a while. I wish l could care more, but. . . .

That "former #4" got traded before his rookie contract was up. And I don't know what "lighting it up" means - having a couple 100 yard games? I guess, I consider what dudes like Evans and Brown do weekly as "lighting it up". Cooper reminds me of Toomer - good, not great. And I still need to see if he can keep focus for 2 years straight, because when things got down in Oakland, his hands got bad and he disappeared far too often. Plus, he's just a WR and I don't like giving up valuable picks to skill positions unless the rest of the team has little to no holes or there is generational talent sitting there in the draft.

We can still get some good players in this draft, but not having a first hurts.

The front office had solid picks last year with Williams and Gallup.

Plus Cooper will be lighting it up again this year and he's only 24. A former #4 overall pick.

I'm excited for rounds 2-4

Cooper is irrelevant to tour question.

The bad news is that might not be enough to gain ground on teams like the LA Rams, who have a first-round pick while we'll be waiting until the second round to make our solid picks.

...I think we needed to do more in free agency, especially without a first-round pick.

Gain ground on the Rams? You mean the team that lost their starting...

G Saffold to the Titans
FS LaMarcus Joyner to the Raiders
ILB Mark Barron to the Steelers
DT Ndamukong Suh FA
DE Dominique Easley FA

Every team has roster turnover. I’d gladly give a 1st for Amari Cooper all over again. I know this is hard for most to say on this board, but the FO nailed this trade and did a fantastic job.

I wouldn't consider Williams a successful pick at this point.....still needs to show quite a lot out there!

It is not hard to figure out. No first round pick dampens the excitement easily. Dallas may draft a couple decent players, but not having a first does take away the enthusiasm. This year I have spent basically no time researching prospects. I spent less time this year compared to any draft in the last 20 years. It also takes away from the excitement when the first pick is at 58 instead of being in the early or middle part of the second round. From talking to other fans, I am not alone in my feelings.
