How long will it take before the Eagles and Commanders defensive line starts kicking our butts?

Commanders defensive front 7 is looking really strong now.

And the Eagles defensive line played better than ours did in head-to-head games last year. There was a play where Fletcher Cox pushed Zack Martin back about 5 yards. And we gave up a total of 7 sacks in 2 games against them. Thank god Dak and Coop bailed us out, plus got major help from their depleted secondary.

I can't be the only one concerned about how much faith our front office is putting into an offensive line that I don't think can win against the Commanders and Eagles D next year. 58 sacks given up last year. I'd say we gotta draft O-Line with our 58th pick. Just take best linemen available, though maybe I slightly lean towards Center. Maybe Tackle for life after Tyron Smith.

Commanders dline did kick our butts one of the 2 games they won with tons of starter's hurt, where as we cling on to the injury excuse if we lose one or two guys. East will not be an easy victory, achievable yes, but our the Cowboys fans delusional ABSOLUTELY. It's about a equal skilled talent 3 team trio going in the race for the East, injuries and luck will dictate the future.

I actually got watching some Zeke highlights the other day (cause that's how I spend my free time...) and watched him vs Philly. We absolutely mauled those guys, especially in the run game. Zeke rushed for 150 and averaged nearly 8 yards per carry, and it was thanks in large part to the OL.

I think the demise of this OL is greatly exaggerated. Before the bye, the OL was freaking awful because they were having to learn Paul Alexander's new blocking scheme. I mean, these guys were absolutely bombing plays that they had made routinely for years.

Firing Alexander and bringing back Houck's scheme energized the offense just as much as adding Cooper did IMO. So the first half of '18 was an aberration. Frederick's coming back, Williams is going into year 2, Tyron's a top 5 left tackle, Martin's maybe the best guard in the league.... I mean, we are still loaded talent wise. If all our starters are healthy, we can and have taken on everything Philly and Washington can throw at us.

It was not an aberration is was the normal means, meaning players get hurt, we just have had the luxury of clinging on to the injury clause when a few guys get's hurt, which makes me sick when in relative terms in comparison to the rest of the league, even in our own division. BREAKING this just in before week 1 we will lose an above average talent starter for the season come week 1, I do not wish this, but when you are dealing with so many players it's just bound to happen.

Well it's official, the Great Wall of Dallas has crumbled. Fred Beard will not return, Martin will not return to his All Pro self, Connor Williams will not improve upon his rookie season, Collins despite playing in a contract year will fail miserably and Tyron Smith is the new spokesperson for Up-Walker

I'll take a STUD def-line over a Stud Off-line any day of the week!!!!!
So much cap invested on our offline who lets face it are not play-makers (and no off-line can stay strong all game long when there playing 7-8 in the Box)......just ask Tom Brady when the Eagles def won the SB....

Injuries are largely down to luck. A new coach coming in for 8 games and screwing up a blocking scheme that's worked like gangbusters for the last 5 years is an aberration.

Injuries are definitely luck based, but there are so many plays just watching a football game you could clamor onto that statement. I believe the Commanders last year had the most starters at every position last year on the oline than ever before in history. A lot of the game is luck based I just don't want us to be clinging on to the unlucky us when it is all said and done. Hell Dez caught it, but yet the refs were blind, biased, or what have you, we lost the luck battle.

LOL !!!!! :lmao2:

Now that’s funny... how about the powerball numbers while your at it Nostradamus ...
Sure, injuries are part of the game, but before you start guaranteeing the demise of our team due to as you put it a season ending injury to an above average player on our team , keep it all in perspective , That 31 other teams have the same risks as well. Stating that injuries are bound to happen due to “so many players “ is just playing the odds . The same can be said in the opposite too. Like mark my words we will be extremely lucky and no one of relevance even has as much as a hangnail come beginning of season ! You don’t know , I don’t know but every team faces the same quandary . The teams that have this happen and adjust the best with next guy up, win the games. So while your prediction of doom and gloom is noted , we will factor in it’s noted for all 32 teams ..

Other teams and fans will say nothing, our teams will have billboards and signs, for rationale on the reasoning why we didn't go further.

I hope you're right. I think Zeke can run over most teams that shouldn't be a surprise, but I think the Eagles and the Commanders D will become elite pretty soon. But then, it is also true what you say that Zeke ran for over 150 yards against them, so the offensive line is still for the most part run blocking pretty well. I think Dak did a good job overall against the Skins, he saw some weaknesses well against them, and found that long Cooper break pass - I think he figured out what the Commanders was trying to do in the 2nd half. If it weren't for that play, I think Commanders D had enough talent to win that game. Sure looked like they were pretty strong to me even in a Cowboys winning effort.

I just think we need to counter our division foes if they catch up in this draft. I think the Eagles are in many ways our equals, except they have an injury prone QB, and a somewhat weak secondary. Commanders have QB concerns, but after this year they may be our equals in the coming years. Giants are still pretty much bad so I won't worry about them anytime soon.

Though it's a matter of personal opinion. I can understand if some fans prefer to chose some playmakers on defense. Safety, Interior Lineman. Though not sure how many are left. Most of them already taken.

Really ?! You have been a fan of the cowboys for how long ? Please enlighten me , I watched a team last year who up until the division round of the playoffs did ok at times despite crappy coaching and suspect play of key positional players ? I don’t recall reading or hearing anyone on this board or amongst the fan base state we lost or struggled due to injuries and rationalized defeat due to it? Nope .. didn’t happen .. instead most acknowledged coaching , players , play calling , lack of defensive line play when it mattered etc .. injuries are part of the game and all teams and fanbases face the same exact risk. It is naive to say otherwise . However to make the claim that the cowboys franchise fan base blames losses on injury and rationalizes losing due to it is 100% pure hyperbole . All fanbases are the same, while some will hitch their wagon to the we lost due to injured player a ... most know that it’s just part of the game and will spew the real reasons their team lost ..

Please don't take this the wrong way, but none of us, including you, have seen their defenses play. They just drafted players yesterday. A bit premature in hand wringing.

As much as you might think they have improved, so has the team in Dallas. THis WR corps is much more dangerous. Dak's fourth year and things should be slowing down for him now. He is not dumb. And once he learns he has people he can trust to either catch it or break it up, he may start taking more riks, which equates to more downfield plays. Which is what all the people here, including me, worry about.

FredBeard will know in a few months where he is. Connor Williams looks massive now. He has been a gym rat at texas and nothing has changed about his character.

Witten will be here. His instruction for the other TE's, especially Schultz should pay dividends.

This team needs a DT, S, LB, then OL.

First shore up the middle of the defense.

Then figure out what you need to add to the OL.

It's April. Real football is almost six months away.

.

Martin's knee was bad all last year, Frederick was out, and we were playing an underpowered and young rookie LG.

This year, Martin healthy, Frederick back, Williams with an nfl offseason and already 10 lbs more muscle.

Oline should be up there with 2014 and 2016.

Bigger needs than OL for sure but I am concerned about LT his back issues concern me. Taking a 4th round flyer wouldn’t hurt my feeling at all
