The Giants gave us a pass at 6,, understudy to Eli for the next three years, they could have really gotten an impact player there.

couldn't agree more. Many haters on here don't agree...that's ok...we know what the true facts are.

You are all right we got a top 5 pick in the draft that instead of costing us 24-26m over the next 4 years (and probably be 21-22 years old), we got a guy who will cost us 80-90m over the next 4 years, (and i doubt we get a 2nd contract from him because he will be 25 when the season starts). You all say we got a good deal i say we over payed for that top 5 guy and found another way that Dak is costing our team because we made the trade for him

Getting a 24 year old, multiple pro bowl player at 28 is a pretty good deal.

Why are so many upset and keep harping vet contract vs. rookie contract.
So when all of these rookies drafted last night come contract time in 4 or 5 years. Are you going to come on here and say those teams need to release those players instead of paying them. Therefore draft a cheaper player, that is unproven.

Here is a thought, it is not your money to spend, nor can one be concerned with it. If they are worth the contract, it will be worked out.
Look at talent, proven, unproven. not always $$$.
also are the same ones that complain Jerry does not spend money on top FA's that will make a difference, the same ones saying, Cooper will cost us vs. a rookie contract. Well, consider Cooper as that top FA difference maker.

He is far better and proven over any rookie and they do have the cap room to get him and Dak, and even Zeke signed. Zeke may be next year, but they will have the room.

AMARI COOPER. If he was in this years top 32 picks, he would have been the best pick by far...not even close. When analyzing the top 32 picks from day one, Cooper many would argue, was the best pick of the night if you factor in the trade we did to land him. Top 5 player easily. We actually got better last night after all the dominoes fell and when you look at who is available day 2. Its a win win for us.Thoughts?
Salary? We don't get 5 years on him.

Lol but cooper doesn’t come with the rookie contract. Cooper on a one year 14m deal wouldn’t even go in the 1st round. It’s about value / cap $.

And Dak still finished at 67.7% completion rate. Guess if he isn't 70%, he sucks.

He should have a 70% completion rate because he can compete a pass over 10 yards. He wild and wide high or in the dirt bad my friend.

People we're begging hoping that phone ring so they could move down. Wasn't a trade until a 10th pick I believe. The only talent in this draft was Defensive line. I totally believe we didn't waste our first-round pick this season

Cooper would have been a top 10 pick if drafted last night but, since the player passing the ball to him couldn't hit
a peach basket from 12 yards, not so much.
I know I bet he's happy to be away from Derek. Prescott saved his career.

Cooper is the man.

Just for balance here, and honesty,
  • 7 of the last 9 Dallas 1st rounders have made All-Pro (not just Pro Bowl, but All-pro)
  • Those players played (or will play) at bargain basement prices for 4-5 seasons...so assume you can have the 1st rounder AND a highly paid veteran with the savings

Nevertheless, Cooper is a stud and there's no denying it. Plus he'll only just run 25 in 3 weeks.

That remains to be seen. Prescott ain't that great.
No Prescott is not that great but he's not that bad either. This is the season that's really going to tell me exactly what we have in a quarterback. I like him better than anybody else in his class. Including Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.

I think some of you need to take off the blue and white shades. We got 1/2 year of cheap service out of our first rounder. Starting this year he'll cost big bucks. Meanwhile, every player drafted last night will provide 4 years of cheap service to the team that drafted him. So from the perspective of cap value it's far from obvious that we won the first round. Even if you imagine we acquired one of the better talents.

both guys would definitely be top 5...or 1,2. Can't go wrong with either.

Yes, and every player drafted last night has a big ? hanging over their head. None of them are sure things, unlike Amari, who has already proven his worth. I don’t care how much it costs, I’m not paying the bill. Who cares about four years of cheap service, if a player winds up being a dud.

Too bad we don't get the rookie contract with our pick.

Why does that matter? We have already wasted the rookie deals of Dak and Zeke with zero to show. And now we are paying a lot of our OL. And Tank.

Rams did it the right way. They didn't win it all but got way further than us. You take advantage of your QB's rookie deal and go stack your team and make a run. Goff is no one special. Has he had one playoff game even close to what Dak had his first game against GB? He just has the luxury of a coaching staff who knows what they are doing. And a front office to make sure he succeeds.

Once you start to pay your QB big money, you should already have a solidified roster in place. We don't. At least not one to compete for a Super Bowl. We can compete for a division and more wild card wins but that's it.

This is fine to say, but Cooper didn't help us get past LA in the playoffs. The reality is other teams added a first-round player THIS YEAR (and some more than one) while we're living in last year. We need to improve and not having a first doesn't help with that.

I'm happy that we got Cooper, but there's no way to spin it that we're better off than other teams by not having a first-round pick.

Talent wise that is likely true

However you could have a great WR (or other player) locked up on a rookie deal (with our rd 1 pick) and have 16-17 mill/yr to upgrade the roster if you didn't get Cooper
