The niners will now move Solomon Thomas back to his natural position after drafting Bosa and Arik Armstead is now on the trade block.

6 foot 7. Reminds me of David Irvings size.

Any interest?

I don’t think he’s that great of an athlete

Thomas is like 6'3". That's the reason I don't see us making a move for him. If he were a LB, that wouldn't be a problem but DEs, we seem to like them a little taller.

If I recall correctly Dallas was interested in Armstead. For the right price he would be worth a try but that's true for just about everyone.

Solomon Thomas would play 3T for the Cowboys, but even Tank is only 6-3.

I don't think a 6-3, 280 3T is the answer. I mean, the guy has a nice first step but he doesn't ever seem to close. I don't see how he helps us much and whoever trades for him is on the hook for like 16 mil over the next two seasons. You want to pay 8 per year for a guy with 4 career sacks?

So they'll have Buckner at one end, Bosa on the other and Thomas in the middle? What about Dee Ford? I'd rather have Thomas than Armstead.

I think if Dallas had any interest in him it would be to move him inside to the 3-tech not as a 4-3 end. Sounds like SF is doing that now.

Still, do you want a DT that is his size, has limited production and is going to cost you 16 mil over two years? If he came a lot cheaper, I might consider it as an experiment. I mean, I would love to have another La'roi Glover but there just aren't a lot of those guys around.

Never liked the guy ever since that college championship game where he was just obliterated. I've never seen a man his size just get pushed around all night long like he was. That tape has got to be embarrassing.

Thomas would only be due 7.3M over the next 2 seasons, 3M this year and 4.3M next. The remaining 9M of his prorated SB would stay on SF's books.

I think that, that is only if they cut him. If he's traded, I think that would be subject to the terms of the trade. If that is the case, then I don't see SF eating that and trading him but I guess it's possible.

If, in fact, SF is picking up the tab on the 9 mil, then that does change things a little bit so the question now becomes, is he worth the 7.3 over two years right?

Signing bonus money is always tied to the team that pays it. Roster bonuses, workout bonuses, etc are transferred with the contract, but the signing bonus proration (restructures included) always stays on the payer's books.

In terms of SF eating the dead money, it'd be a 1.6M cap loss, and with 30+M in space, it's a drop in the bucket for the return of a pick.

Why is everyone talking about Solomon Thomas on this thread. The thread is about Arik Armstead. Thomas is not available for trade. Armstead is.
Where did you hear this? Last i heard it was Thomas that they were moving, hence the reason everybody is talking about Thomas.

I'm not sure this is accurate. I thought that if a player were cut or traded before the league year, the team was no longer responsible for Roster, workout and any additional Option Bonus. I mean, I'm not an authority so I could definitely be wrong there but if that's how it works, then I would think that we would be on the hook for the balance. Trust me, I hope your way is the way. That's a much better deal.

Dallas only has six picks in this draft and none in the sixth round.

If they want a d-lineman I would rather they draft one and develop him themselves instead of trying to save another team's failed investment.

Agholor, I would be interested in. That guy, I like but man, it's no wonder they are trying to trade him. His cap hit jumps up from 2.9 to 9.3 in 2019.

Yeah they would be basing that decision on what they say in college because he hasn’t done much in the NFL. If they were interested they would say he’s been playing out of position. He’s the same size as Donald. The Unicorn of 3-techs.
