Last year we had a top.10 defense (6th best overall). That by investing only 30+% of cap space into it.

Someone could argue this guy is doing something right. If not for his age i dont see this guy going nowhere.
7th.

Not a bad ranking, though, and now if we will just fix the issues at S and DT, we'll move into the top 5 range.

We need to get rid of this guy from having any influence on picking. The taco pick was terrible, and we have shown to have poor evaluation with DL and getting poor character guys. They seem to get suspended for drug failures, and now we get someone else who apparently got suspended 3 times? Not sure how accurate that is, I hope it was just a misunderstanding.

I hope the whole pick is one big misunderstanding and one of the safeties is really the correct pick.

Trysten Hill DT UCF is a player I liked at the Combine and undoubtedly DC Marinelli likes. His measurable physical abilities are comparable to elite DT in the draft; 6-3-308, 5.0 40yd time, 35 vertical jump, 4.38 short shuttle with a 1.73 10yd split. However, he was used in rotation at UCF. That fits the Cowboys mold. He also has been winning going undefeated in 2017-18 at UCF (lost to LSU in bowl game this year 32-40).

I have liked Hill because they say he was in the new UCF coaches dog house in 2018. However, he played quick, fast, and hard. So whatever happened he stood up to it. Every draft report has 2 things Marinelli loves...burst and hustle. Burst and hustle are consistent for Hill in every draft evaluation. Its the 2 things you can not coach a DL to do. Either they have it or they don't.

When Marinelli goes to a pro day, personally works out a player, and gets a player in Dallas for the 30 visits, you can bet he is high on their draft board. He would be a perfect fit a no.58 as he has a 3rd round grade and the 58th pick is a low 2nd round choice so he would not be a reach. A lot of teams are interested so his 3rd round grade is a false ranking to throw teams off. He could fall to 3-5 rounds only because he was never a full time starter. But he would then become a unreal steal in rounds 3-5.

I hope what Marinelli wants (see Collins, Lawrence, and Gregory), Marinelli gets.
Rod also wanted Taco, Ivie and the golden cock.
Nuff said.

He sure does.

I wondered a lot about the Cowboys reaching for Kris Richard pets that were 6-3 with vine for arms.

Instead, I get another "quick twitch" Marinelli special kid.

Maybe the boys know something we don't, how many picks do we have in the 3rd round?
One.

This franchise is not draft savvy enough to move into a round to get who they want.

They sit back and pick their teeth after every pick just like they just gorged themselves on a buffet.

Hill is a good pick. I just hope the staff and some of our weak vets can keep him corralled.

So stupid. Let's take a guy that didnt play because of maturity issues and not safeties that actually make plays on the ball
All you had to do is watch his position combine drills, look at his production when played, and you know why he fits what Dallas wants at DT. He is use to playing in rotation and winning (team only lost 1 game in 2 years). If you like analytics go read this post regard Hill and his issues with playing time
http://power6analytics.com/trsyten-...urnaround-vs-memphis-in-the-aac-championship/
Hill had some issues with Randy Shannon who wanted him to play more run stop LDT (3-tech) versus RDT (1-tech). He can do both but his quickness (see original post) is suited for LDT. That is what the Cowboys need. Hill will make this DL a great rotational DL.
This, I wanted a DT but wanted the safety spot dotted first.
The thing about S is you can get them late in the draft or UDFA. The Cowboys best S prior to Woodson was Cornell Green a converted basketball player, Woodson was a LB, Charlie Waters was a CB, Cliff Harris was an UDFA, Mike Downs UDFA, James Washington was a Plan B free agent, Brock Marion was a 7th round pick, and so on and so on....

Need to draft CB (2), DL (2), and an OL (1) to eventually replace Collins who will leave in free agency soon. The come out the draft with those numbers....I am good

Just because this team got places with bums at safety other teams have won Super bowls with good safety play.
