That makes a lot of sense, I was shocked to see Hill as the pick with Rapp, Adderly and Thornhill still available.

I wonder if they discovered something on Thornhill that they didn't like.
It doesn't sound like it.

They just liked Trysten Hill better than Juan Thornhill.

Jerry Jones didn’t mind telling reporters after the press conference that Virginia safety Juan Thornhill was the other player the Cowboys were coveting before the Trysten Hill pick. “He fit. We liked him. He really fit (our scheme),” Jones said. “We were ready to go with him. But we took our preference.”

Thornhill was at The Star for the 30 visits and intrigued the Cowboys with his ability to play both cornerback and safety throughout his career. He eventually went off the board just five picks later to the Chiefs at No. 63.

If it's so important why have they ignored it so much over the years? All of a sudden it's the most important position? Shut up

Tyrone Crawford had a very good season at 3T under Marinelli but then got hurt. Maliek Collins played well as a rookie but has had injuries. David Irving had 7 sacks in 8 games, if he wasn't criminally stupid he could have been an elite player.

That isn't ignoring the position, that is mostly bad luck with injuries.

It might be the most important position on this defense, just wasnt the biggest upgrade to me. Hope he proves me wrong for wanting thornhill over him (im sure hill will play well too, just not my preference) having a good interior rusher would get this pass rush to the elite level no doubt.

What 3 techs have they passed on? And which of our premium picks the last few years are you giving back to get an available 3 tech with?

They’ve spent two 3rds n the position in recent drafts. And that’s with David Irving on the roster.

This pick was Collins’ replacement. It actually was a need. They just overdrafted him.

I knew it. This was made based on Marinelli's influence. Unbelievable. You pass up on a college career long starting multi-positional proven stud and gifted/talented DB over a much needed coaching DT3 who never once started last year and needs a lot of help?

Other than 1 play or 2 at the most, watch Hill get dominated by little school Temple last year.

Maliek will never be healthy for more than half a season. I’d prefer not having Caraun Reid as the starter like the ATL game

... that is, for #58.

He mentioned injury being one, but didn't say anything otherwise.

Translation? Maybe Rapp was #1 option until the hip flexor issue arose?

I don’t think so at all. The hip flexor talk was later debunked.
