Im with you brother, I wanted a safety as well. However, if we took BPA and no safety was close then we did the right thing. It pains me to say that the right thing was another Olineman. Im assuming Dallas was very high on the kid to take a position we don't immediately need help in.

Also I think we are expecting Woods to continue to improve and Iloka to be better than advertised in the box. We are expecting Richard to pull a Marinelli and get the most out of our current safety group. I did find it interesting to see Iloka's measurables stacked up against Chancelor and they are virtually identical. Clearly measurements dont tell the whole story, but I expect he will be on the field more than Heath this season.

Either way Id be lying if I liked our draft so far, but I believe in this staff much more than my own humble opinion.
Lol pull a marinelli what does that mean. Have a d lineman get suspended or quit? Hes an 0-16 coach that should be coaching his aged scheme in a junior high somewhere. How he has this reputation is mind boggling.

I do love that Garrett just sat there and took it while this team drafted for 2020

Cool is Connor moving to RT?
there is a chance...maybe we are prepping for Collins leaving since I doubt if we pay him big money. last year I argued that Collins should move inside, given his strength and ability to get to the second level and thn Connor to move to RT, as he has much better feet and lateral movement.

No, I totally get it. You're trying to justify the pick with some long-term vision that the team itself doesn't have

Im perfectly happy with the fact that you don't get it and you don't like the pick.

I like the pick. Great value in the 3rd round.

Lets move on.

For you guys that don’t like the pick can you admit he looks like a pretty good OL prospect?

He looks better then a 3rd rounder to me.

I'm with you. I knew nothing about Martin, Frederick, LVE and those turned out to be great picks.
I'd be lying if I said I knew how to evaluate players like a scout. Nor do I keep up with all the players.
And, yes, I get enamored with the big names. But there are ALOT of guys out there who can play beyond the super stars.
And I have faith in McClay.
So while I would have loved to have gotten a "sexy" "known" player, I'm going to give the Cowboy brass the benefit of the doubt.
No sense in staying angry now. What's done is done.

Did we seriously need another lineman?

I think this was 3rd round insurance policy. They guy will be a good starter by his second year. He's got a lineman body and he's played out a very high level. Already strong if you look at his combine numbers and will get stronger. Dude is like 21 and he's got more upside the our number 2 from last year and is more ready to play then Conner was last year opening day.

Then why all those visits with safeties that had 2nd and 3rd round grades?

And note I don’t think McGovern isn’t a good player. He is. But I just don’t get the logic behind the pick unless they have something up their sleeve.
Check JJ sleeve this morning.

he looks better than Hill to me.

Cause he is.

Trysten Hill is nothing but an athlete they hope they can mold into something but he is an ok at best football player.

You would think he’d be more dominant at that level with his traits but he’s not.

Hill is going to take a lot of work.

Totally. I like the player more than Connor Williams from last year.

We just don't have a plan for how to play him.

We need players this year.

Weren’t you the one declaring the greatness of Lil’Jordan Humphrey a few weeks back?

I did like Jordan Humphrey and still do.

I’d never seen his workouts and they were horrendous but that guy can play football.

I’ve also been the guy right about a ton of players so relax. You can play this game with the best to ever pick players.

I’ll stand by this guy being a good player until he fails. His workouts were bad and he will have to make his living from the slot but this is clearly a good football player.

Lack of production with his measurables is a red flag

as i have said in other posts, I think McGovern starts at LG THIS year, the FO knows Williams stunk at LG last year and they are hinting he moves to RT, which means LG is open to McGovern, Looney and Sua Filo. jmo

Im sure you're smart enough to know the rep comes from maximizing production out of lesser talent such as Henry Melton for example.

I think with Connor it’s just a power issue.

McGovern will move guys. Connor just kinda gets his block but that’s about it.

With that said Connor can develop he just needs to add size.
