To the delusional cheerleaders who like to pretend Jerry is a passive figurehead and his chubby son and the great Will McClay actually run this team, tune into the 13:55 mark of this video and observe. Ignore the fact Stephen can't even answer a phone correctly.

Stephen works the phone like a good secretary. He can't say yes or no to these offers. He's not the decision maker.

"Umm...let me call you back. I have to ask Dad."

He presents the trade offers to his Daddy. The real boss. The head coach seems open to one of the trade proposals but gets immediately shut down.

Then Stephen mentioned he'd be willing to go down 3 spots for a pick.

Not happening, as the REAL decision maker in Dallas, Till. Death. Do. They. Part., has made his decision.

"Let's keep Connor McGovern."

And so it is done. (Shout out to Will McClay, who is strangely absent in this.)

Now this isn't news to anyone reasonable, I know. I'm talking to our less fortunate right now. Those loving in their alternate reality because the real world offends their fandom.

So, to those bros.... Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

Never thought Will made the pick

He presents a board {or whatever type of player ranking they want} & those in charge either abide by his recommendations (draft ranking) or they choose who they want

Will is TALENT evaluation & from the looks of it..... Much better than previous interpretations

1. I hope you write for a living. Always a pleasure to read.

2. You’re on record liking the pick. Sure you want to make sure everyone knows it was Jerry’s?

3. There’s no question Jerry is still the shot-caller whenever he wants to be. And you can be sure he wants to be whenever someone is filming. But you don’t think he’s backed off some in general? How do you explain the team’s stronger drafts in recent years? Lucky run? Or do you deny that the decision-making on that front seems to have improved?

That sequence pretty much showed what I thought was going on. Of course Jerry is still involved but he is allowing others to do their thing. He didn’t put his foot down and make the decision over other people objecting. He simply said let’s keep the guy we have a 2nd round grade on and everyone agreed. I felt that if others had pushed it, Jerry was willing to listen and could be persuaded.

Sad to see how passive and helpless McClay looks. This is how it looked even on the war room cam with no audio. But without his contributions, the name Connor McGovern doesn’t come out of Jerry’s mouth. So let’s not act like he’s just some coffee *****.

Can you find Peter king's article where Jerry wanted Paxton lynch and Stephen said no to adding additional picks.

Yeah, this is a good point. Billionaires like to make decisions regarding the football teams they own. Thanks for making sure everybody understands that.

Seemed like a fairly normal weighing of options to me, with the team taking the guy they didn't expect to be there who had the high grade when it came down to it.

Daddy's been a much better drafter the last five years. Stephen was a little lost on that whole deal, i'd be more concerned with that for the future. He just learned a good lesson.

Stephen and Will are just part of the Jerry world's yard and one is waiting for his old man to raise his boots so he can finally continue the Jones Legacy and Will really has no where else to go I guess.....Yep Jerry was and is the BOSS!!!!

Most owners leave it to the GM, scouts and coaches though.
