Geez, I sure wish you’d look at the glass half full, rather than han half empty all the time. Guess, I’m not going to teach an old dog new tricks anytime soon, huh? Lol

I’m not arguing your grade, that’s your opinion. Trust me, If I had to give a grade strictly on the picks.. I’d prob give ‘em a B maybe B- (only because I wanted a safety earlier in the draft). Side note: Include Amari Cooper as our 1st, it’s easily an A draft. Imo

Was Hill a reach? Probably. But let’s be honest, quality DL (exp interior DL)were flying off the board. The FO believes (Marinelli) Hill can be that true 3T that most have been clamoring for. And if he turns out to be a starter playing at a high level, nobody will care if we reached for him. (Nobody cares that we ‘reached’ for Travis Frederick bc he’s an AllPro)

As far as Pollard, I don’t agree drafting Pollard means anything in terms of Zeke. Pollard is the upgraded version of Tavon, Dunbar, Lucky Whitehead, etc. He’s like having all those players in one. Pollard can run between tackles as a RB, move out wide as a WR, and still has the speed like Tavon. I have more faith in Kellen Moore to utilize his talents and Pollard has more ability than others before him. Zeke will be feed on a regular basis as usual, not to mention Zeke’s blocking abilities are superior and needed. Zeke will be spelled by Pollard/Weber throughout the season to attempt to keep Zeke fresh for the playoffs, but by no means does this reduce his role or importance on the team. The improvements (addition of Fredrick and McGovern) on the OL hopefully will only catapult the run game. I see the direction their going and it seems they want to get back to a dominate run game of 2016. The defense is better than last year on paper regardless of what people think. If the Offense can control the clock and run the ball down opponents throats, the Defense will be able to attack and bully teams.

No one is talking about the de facto second wave of player acquisition.. we other teams are forced to let good high priced players go after the draft. Personally I believe Dallas isn’t done adding a few more player like a veteran RB, Safety, etc.. we have a very good, young team.. now is the time to see the glass half full.

And yes, my glass is full of kool aid.
They for sure hit bigtime on Cooper. If they hit on Hill, McGovern, and Pollard, this draft might get them a championship. They did reach a little for Hill, but not much. They got great value in McGovern and if they hit on Pollard it will pay off bigtime.

Kiper never was a draft scout or a GM. If you look at Kiper on Youtube when it was his very first time on ESPN for the NFL Draft. Kiper talks and it just sounds like a bunch double-talk acting like he knows what he is talking about.

Yet if he gave us a good grade and thought we had a great draft, you wouldnt be saying this.
Give anyone calling themselves a "Draft Guru" and go on and on and right before the draft 2 1/2 weeks before you go silent and hide your mock and then find out by inside sources who is the most likely pick for teams and 24 hours before the draft and act like an expert.

Mel published his top 300 list the day before the draft and in it he had Hill 189th overall. The Cowboys took him at 58. He was being kind in his grading.
I was not a happy camper with their picking him at 58. I’m sure he could have been sitting there even after Mcgregor and Jackson picks. I’m scratching my head at how the replenish areas we are solid at continue to ignore or minimize weakness spots like TE, S and backup QB even.

Let me ask you: Did Dallas get any immediate starters here? Cooper doesn't count.
If the Cowboys used a draft pick to acquire Cooper, then how in the hell doesn't he count?

Additionally, how many players could the Cowboys have drafted that would be immediate starters? Maybe Thornhill at 58, after that???

Cooper wasnt in this draft! And even if he was, he wouldve gone a lot sooner than 27.

I dont understand how hard that is to comprehend. Jerry and Stephen are once again bamboozling the fan base to feel better about not having a first

Totally disagree about Hill being a reach or that safety was a bigger need. Ultimately if we hadn't taken a DT in round 2 the talking heads would have said the same story about not addressing the position like Kiper is here saying about safety. We needed help in the line period. And I for one am glad we finally gave the DT position the value it needs. Cant survive on the freebies like Antuan Woods and Nick Hayden (The Infamous Golden Cock) for a long period of time. Eventually good QB's like Aaron Rodgers and Jared Goff will expose you. So safety might still be a need but at least we addressed the DT need first. Who knows, we might swing a trade for an unhappy veteran who could play free safety (Patrick Peterson maybe?).

I think a B- is fair considering the value situation with reference to Hill and the Connor pick kind of made up for that inequity.

I think Hill is a player and could turn out like the Frederick pick situation that said I would have taken the S and then tried to grab Hill later if that was your guy, even for a small trade up in the third.

Mel will grade you down if you fail to draft for glaring team needs in your top picks especially with regard to the S position for Dallas.

They definitely addressed the RB back up position and time will tell on the Jackson clan.

Why doesn’t Cooper count? Cooper was by far the best WR obtained by using draft picks in this years draft.
OBJ?

We got at least two years of a price controlled pro bowl WR for said first. Why should what we got for the first not be considered in the evaluation out of what we got for this years draft picks?

I'm not convinced we couldn't have gotten Hill with the Pollard pick and taken Thornhill or Adderly at 58. That would be a much better draft and I think Hill could have still been there.

That said, I hope Hill plays up to his physical potential.
