Telegraphing or leaking?

Yeah Jane knew our target many hours before the pick was made and Saturday morning on Twitter everyone was talking about Pollard being a likely Cowboys pick on day 3.

What can I say? We are woefully mismanaged.

When you reach for players..it doesn't matter if the rest of the league knows who you want..they'll still be on the board

Give me a break. They just won the division and a playoff game last year and this team is better than last years team.

LOL.

That’s winning?

No, that’s a low bar where we have been so bad for two decades that winning a division with 10 wins is considered a huge accomplishment.

You guys who like to think we are the awesomest look silly when you set lower bars for what constitutes a really successful season.

its probably difficult for the scouting/personnel dept to be tight lipped, when during the season you have the "Stephen Jones Show" and the "Jerry Jones Show." We probably arent far away from the "Marketing the brand with Charlotte Jones Anderson", "Better Call Jerry Jones Jr", and the "Art Hour with Gene Jones" programs.

They are not selling state secrets, its a draft board, the draft board has been leaked various times over the years. I would not say its an issue.

The "D" in Dallas stands for dysfunctional, but in this case I understand. If Jane really wants to get something out of a man, she probably gets it.

I seems like a bit of an anomaly this year but of the 32 first round picks, only Jonah Williams (Bengals), Rashan Gary (GB), Christian Wilkins (Miami), Jeffrey Simmons (Titans), Darnell Savage (GB), Andre Dillard (Philly), Hollywood Brown (Baltimore), Montez Sweat (Commanders), Johnathan Abram (Raiders), Deandre Baker (NYG).

This means 70% of the first rounders had some sort of visit or workout with the team that picked them.

There is a lot more information is out there, that could be the situation as it makes it easier to track.

But even before this year, Dallas has shown no qualms about telegraphing who they meet with to the point that when you see a guy they never showed interest in (ala McGovern) it is a real shock.

and yet we draft better than most.
Think about how much better if they kept things a little more secretive?

They lost out on Isaiah Johnson, John Cominsky and Dre Greenlaw when teams took players right in front of their noses.

I don't think teams take somebody to keep them away from any team. That makes no sense...

No, but other teams interested in that same player now have the option to trade up to get him. Its simply bad policy to let anything you are thinking about the draft get out before its over.

They didn't lose out to Cominisky, they could have had him but took Pollard, hoping he would fall.

There are 31 other teams in the NFL and all 32 could pretty much name the top 100-150 players coming into the draft each year, and all 32 teams could look at each others roster and predict which positions they need to fill. You would think with some of the responses on here, that Dallas has a secret map to buried treasure. The only unknowns in the draft, are not the players/positions teams are looking to draft, but what round they will take them.

Obviously...Bryan Broaddus...Has never heard the term "loose lips sinks ships"....he was broadcasting all of our picks well before they were announced. Someone was feeding him intel @ least a half dozen picks before ours was announced. Honestly...teams have picked up on it. That's how we lost Damien Harris, Isaiah Johnson....

Hell he was pushing the Trysten Hill pick a week in advance on Twitter....we are lucky he didn't get snatched up by Denver...from whispers around the league on Twitter...Denver was trying to trade up...but they ended up settling for Dre'mont Jones.

It was pretty good pick too, imo
For 3rd rounder, he has a real shot

A bit surprised the pick wasn't CGJ there, but I kind of get it. I doubt they thought McGovern would be there.

Watched the Cowboys draft w/ Bulger and Bryan Broaddus this morning...When the Saints took CGJ...it was funny they kept saying he wasn't a good person. Guy had good tape...but fell into the Gerald Willis catagory. Which I found funny. When have the Cowboys cared about character? I mean they took a flier on Greg Hardy...maybe they learned something...IDK. But I think I would have taken that guy. He's a player.

People here could've sworn we were taking Taylor Rapp or Juan Thornhill.

To be fair.
All 32 teams let CGJ drop.
I liked him...and would've taken him at 90
But Dallas did end up getting good value at 90 anyway.

True...After the pick ...I had to go back and rewatch some Mcgovern tape. The tape I saw before the draft...he was playing left tackle...and was just getting abused...so my evaluation on the player was off. Went back and saw him playing inside @ RG...and he was much better there. So I feel a little better about the pick now.;)

which explains why Minn. was trying to trade up for him. he's a plug and play guard.

And the Jets were the team offering the 7th rounder to move up 3 spots.....which too...would have been a bad move. Still can't believe we don't use a trade chart anymore....because Garrett wanted to make that trade.
