To the delusional cheerleaders who like to pretend Jerry is a passive figurehead and his chubby son and the great Will McClay actually run this team, tune into the 13:55 mark of this video and observe. Ignore the fact Stephen can't even answer a phone correctly.

Stephen works the phone like a good secretary. He can't say yes or no to these offers. He's not the decision maker.

"Umm...let me call you back. I have to ask Dad."

He presents the trade offers to his Daddy. The real boss. The head coach seems open to one of the trade proposals but gets immediately shut down.

Then Stephen mentioned he'd be willing to go down 3 spots for a pick.

Not happening, as the REAL decision maker in Dallas, Till. Death. Do. They. Part., has made his decision.

"Let's keep Connor McGovern."

And so it is done. (Shout out to Will McClay, who is strangely absent in this.)

Now this isn't news to anyone reasonable, I know. I'm talking to our less fortunate right now. Those loving in their alternate reality because the real world offends their fandom.

So, to those bros.... Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

So you don't understand what a scout's job is.

He doesn't make the picks for the GM's.

I eschew all social media. This is as close as I get. I fully expect opposing views about players, coaches, and front office personnel. Doesn't bother me in the least. Truculence can be entertaining.
It is what it is. These anonymous sites are overall meaningless. But addictive.

Beeville, Texas. Played for the Trojans. We sucked. Had a 42 game losing streak in high school. Second home was Rockport and spent lots of time in Ingelside as my step dad was in the Nave and stationed there for a bit. My hood.
Word. Took care of my father, after his accident, for years at the only nursing home in the vicinity there. He was Coast Guard.
I went in also. Was able to finagle my way to be stationed in Corpus Christi to keep close.

then things went wonderfully sideways.

Love that area. Been going to Port A yearly since high school. Devasting the ravish Harvey had.

What exactly is a draft card? Jerry was in the War Room not At the draft . Nothing is official until they call the draft HQ. That story “ snatched” sounds somewhat potentially sensationalized. I’m not denying it didn’t happen but you know the ole fish story concept.

Somebody has to tell the folks who are at the draft who to pick, and i'm pretty sure they don't rely on word of mouth to relay the information. I also know jerry jones and his impulsive way of running a team. This isn't hard to believe at all. If your just going on a hunch and not any real facts, I think this debate is pretty much over. lol

In the northeast we prolly dont get as much of the good stuff
I can give some good reviews. I'm a Tequila Anejo sommelier, so to speak. My thoughts do need a bit of interpretation though.
I talk in terms of dusty floors and licking Clint Eastwood's face...

You and me both. social media? I simply have zero interest. Not an ounce. And I have probably lost money over it, but it's not important.
I'd rather walk my dags in comfort and silence than be bugged every step of my journey.
It’s much like Charles Barkley has said. It gives every Moron a voice we’d otherwise never hear from. Lol

The Cowboys forum almost 12 years ago was first experience and became addictive. I initially came on to vent about new stadium and it’s taken on from there.

Unfortunately now that I’m retired I have entirely too much time.i actually prefer the FB Cowboy sites where we actually know who we’re talking too. It’s much more personal and less vindictive.

I dig at you, but that doesn't mean I don't dig you...

Yes! I know I used a double negative! I'm speaking conversationally!

I’m basing my opinion on Jerry’s interview and some of the local vibe in media at that time which supported my hunch. All facts can be spun to support a narrative.

Like I mentioned to another member I’m not denying the facts that occurred. I’m just interpreting them differently in that Jerry may have wanted Manziel but not enough to draft him.

Jerry actually stating that he wanted Manziel can be spun many different ways? His"saving face" interview after the fact doesn't negate his actions.

Oh man Harvey wiped that are out. I had a trailer at Holiday Beach for weekend fishing and it was totally destroyed. What I will never forget was the total destruction of the trees. I went down there 3 days after and the trees were stripped of leaves. Those that were left standing. Rockport was ground zero.

Rockport took a beating with that hurricane a couple of years ago. God bless them.

Yeah, this is a good point. Billionaires like to make decisions regarding the football teams they own. Thanks for making sure everybody understands that.

Seemed like a fairly normal weighing of options to me, with the team taking the guy they didn't expect to be there who had the high grade when it came down to it.
Some Billionaires delegate responsibility. I'm pretty sure that Stan Kroenke trusted Les Snead and Sean McVay to make the Rams picks, and Robert Craft probably had very little to do with the Patriots picks, and I know Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock made the decisions for the Raiders. I would think that most owners would turn it over to the football experts that they hired. Of course here Jerry considers himself to be the football expert.
