This kid is maliek Collins with less production in school. Marinelli did what with ty craw, Gregory, taco, Collins, tapper. D law was the only one and d law could have been a first round pick. Marinelli sucks, he should have been blown out after the rams game. Our d line still has one of the lower sack % in the league

Sacks come from the edge. Marinelli got here in Ware's last (injury riddled) year. the following year he got tank who was injured, injured and suspended. Gregory, suspended injured, suspended. Hardy, suspended, head case, out the league. On the interior he got Irving off a practice squad and he was dominant on the field. He got maliek and tapper. Maliek had 6 sacks as a rookie dt with no training camp before suffering chronic injuries, and Tapper unfortunately had a rare and undetectable broken back syndrome (lol). You act like he's just been handed premiere talent during his tenure. He's had one, Tank, who has flourished and reached his full potential. And a bunch of injury plagued, walking suspension head cases or udfa's.

i had a posting chat with fuzzy about hill.
we agree that it may be more interesting to line him up in the a-gap instead of the b-gap.
he would get a double, but his large but quick body would have enough momentum that he may do decent against a double as the 1.
forcing that double would help dlaw and quinn a lot.
also less agility needed as he would be really close to the qb.

No he's not.

This kid has a completely freakish lightning quick first step. He and Malik are almost opposites.

You've been moaning for a DT for years. Hill is the highest pick in a long time. How are you feeling about Hill? You sound positive here.

Hill is quite simply a high ceiling/low floor small school player. Call him a medium school player if you like, whatever.

With his extremely freakish burst at the snap, Hill could be another Laroi Glover if he develops. Thing is, he could be a 9, but he could also be a 2. That's the chance you take w/ these guys. If he'd have gone to a bigger football school, he most likely would've been a first round pick, possibly top 10.

Demarcus Ware was such a player, as was DLaw.
He has beast mode and needs to flip the switch to on full time

the issue was apparently the new coaches were unhappy he did not practice hard enough even though he played hard in games.
he just found out that his contract is less than $5M instead of what could have been $20M.
i would say he is plenty pissed and motivated now.

Hill is most talented under tackle we have had in awhile by measurables. You cant really look at his college stats because frankly the UCF does not have half the talent the Cowboys have. I think he will excellent here because of the players around him.

you are drafting a quad B player, not a quad A player.
that is why he was not drafted in the top 10 like the others were.
if he had production like q williams or ed oliver, he may be drafted 1st or 2nd player overall.

he is that much bigger than q williams who was drafted 3rd overall.
his test scores are crazy, and it is silly to rank him like malliek when his scores blows maliek away.
maliek is his floor.

and remember malliek had a down year for his senior year.
that was because they changed system and his stats were down.
sounds familiar as the team regularly looks for quad-b players (talented but poor performance in college) that were put in a bad position which reduced their performance in college...

hill is exactly the type of player they are looking for.
super physical talent.
and he even played hard on the field.
he was on the field for half the snap.
when he was on the field, he was reportedly always playing hard.
the problem was he did not get along with the new set of coaches and they cut his playing time to less than 50%.

Another thing to possibly consider; he played for a college team that did not develop his skills. He played on talent alone. The team was winning, so it was much easier to bench him when he acted up.

Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is known for putting athletic defensive linemen in a position to succeed. One trait alone stands out above the rest for what he desires from defensive linemen: penetration. Hill won’t fit into every defense, but in Dallas, he’s the prototype. Marinelli allows his defensive linemen carte blanche to attack upfield and make plays.

WHEN AND WHERE DID ROD DO ALL THESE GREAT THINGS??

“Ok Sapp and Rice here is what I want - Get the QB!”

Genius

the key to marinelli defense is DTs that can put pressure on QB up the middle, not allowing him to step up and then forcing him outside or allowing DEs to get to the QB. Hill will have more impact thant any safety we would have drafted in the 2nd round....give any QB enough time and they can find an open receiver and we all be sitting screaming and cussing at Jones, Woods, etc. its start from the inside just like offense. he is probably the perfect fit for dallas and that's why these draft pundits try to compare across the board, as opposed to scheme fit. w

We will see. I don't buy it. I am anxious to see the nickel rush of Quinn, Collins, Hill, D law tho. My thing is I have no faith in Marinelli. I hope the kid is a stud still would have rather taken thornhill.

In keeping with the Cowboys in round 2, it's all about the ceiling on the pick. However, what makes this one different is Marinelli's relationship with him prior to the pick.

Hill to Marinelli "Of all of the gin joints, you had to walk in this one". Marinelli wanted this kid, went after him and got him. Motivation was questionable with his previous coach, that will not be the case with this one. He will blossom as much as he can under Marinelli.

Good thing Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice and Demarcus Lawrence don't share your opinion of Marinelli.

I do not share that either because good coaches cannot make good players great, they have to have something more to work with.

He's not a good coach. His defenses have been the reason we've been bounced out of the playoffs the last 3 times.

marinelli is a horrible d coordinator because his schemes are obsolete.
however he is a good dl coach because he gets his dl to play hard for him.

Well trying hard isn't good enough for me. I'm here for results.
