If Jason Garrett goes, so should Dak Prescott

With Garrett being in the final year of his contract and Jerry Jones already talking this team up - this needs to be it. If Garrett fails to improve upon what we did in 2018, he needs to walk and take Prescott with him.

Normally, I wouldn't attach a player to the coach, but whatever coach we bring in should be allowed to draft the QB that best suits their system. The 2020 QB class is looking to be deep, you potentially have Tua who is in the mold of a Russel Wilson, Herbert who can make every throw on the field with good mobility, and your prototypical pocket passer in Fromm - then you have interesting prospects such as Costello and Eason whom could end up being late first round to early second round picks as well.

Unless Garrett and Prescott take the next step, we should not consider them our future and there will be plenty of options out there to replace and move on.

I both agree and disagree with you here. What should happen is that the next coach should decide what happens with Prescott. A big part of the reason why I would not extend him this year.

Prescott shouldn't be tied to Garrett - heck he might improve with a better coach - but the team should let any potential next coach make the call one way or the other.

won't have to worry...they are both getting extended. all JG has to do is win 7 games or more. they will find excuses to keep him.

Weird take. If Dak goes with Garrett it amounts to a tacit admission that your HC didn't get the QB play he needed to succeed. Kinda flies in the face of the notion that this team has everything it needs and just needs the coaching to get the most out of it.

I'm with Stash: let the replacement coach decide what happens with Dak. Realistically, that's not happening either. I think this FO is wedded to Dak for the foreseeable future.

Shouldn't be tied to coach at all. Next coach can decide what QB he wants to go with period. Don't ya think, unless your afraid the next coach might actually stick with Dak and YOU don't like that idea. Just saying....

If the next coach comes in, after Dak having another mediocre to poor season, I will 100% guarantee we didn't snag the best coach on the market but instead grabbed whatever coach we believe best suits Prescott.

That's not exactly how this should go down. 4 years of Prescott is enough to know what we got in him.

What? Garrett is part of the draft and team building process, Dak wasn't forced to be our starter - it's up to Garrett to help find the franchise QB. You can place blame on others as well, but good luck getting the Jones' knuckleheads from running the show. You can blame the "GM" as well, either way, someone has to go and Garrett would be the most likely in this situation.

Your obsessive Dak hate is creepy at this point. Let a new coach pick his own coaches and players, whoever they may be. And if 32 wins in 3 years with 2 playoff appearances and 2 division titles is mediocre for a 3rd year QB, I'd like to see a good season from one.

Nobody in management has to go if we get bad QB play and that's what prevents the team from succeeding. The logical person to jettison in that circumstance is Dak himself. In fact, given their love of Garrett, if this unlikely scenario plays out (i.e. Dak's QB play is subpar but the rest of the team generally plays well enough to win), I think we can expect Jerry to find a way to keep Garrett and just replace Dak.

Let's see....if I divorce my wife, the kids are going with her. Hmmmmmmm. Jerry's not getting rid of the children, only the dad.

Dak is a cash cow for Jerry. Only Brady sells more merchandise. Jerry always places popularity ahead of talent.

I don’t think Garrett is attached to Dak. And Garrett thus far is only who’s survived Dak who in 3 seasons has gone thru 2 OC,2 QB coaches, and all the receivers he begin with. Witten is returning.

If the Moore Experiment doesn’t work then no one is safe with Dak here.

There's not "creepy" about this - we have both a coach and QB of the team that is fan forum is about, on the last year of their contract. This is a valid discussion, if you dislike - get out of the thread.

Next.

You're spinning. Your initial argument was that the poor play from Dak excuses Garrett - it doesn't, and it's poor logic. Again, Garrett is part of the process of finding the QB to get the job done. The "Well Garrett never had his QB" - is not a valid excuse - he's had Romo and Dak, multiple drafts, and 9 seasons to get his guy. No excuses, he either gets it done this year or we should see him walk.
