Would Hill have gone 1st round if not for attitude?

It would have been a pretty awesome feat.

Actually, it is not common that a college staff buries a player and he still goes in the 2nd round.

I can appreciate that Marinelli trusts Frost, but that is a huge deal. That is us basically telling the current staff at UCF that they don't know what they were dealing with.

I will say that every kid on that roster would have run through walls for Frost. They loved the guy and were crushed when he left. Hill seriously considered transfering after Frost left, but loved his teammates and stayed. Probably a bad move for him after seeing how it all played out. If there is a silver lining, it is that Rod might have the perfect personality for Hill.

First round would be far fetched for Hill in my opinion, but I am optimistic that he will mesh well with the coaches/players and people will look back on the pick as a great value.

I hope not. Who wants a player that would intentionally forfeit $5M on account of attitude?

The difference between #32 in 2018 and #58 is that much. If $5M can't motivate a guy, what can?

I'd prefer him to be a developing 2nd round player with upside.

Good analysis on his pros and cons, other than quick first step, seems he is very mediocre in other areas.

Biggest takeaway is "he isn't effective when the offense focuses on blocking him."

Guess what. No one is going to double him with Lawrence and Quinn on the field.

I saw a guy who, when doubled, opened things up for his teammates

Cowboys are now drafting the least disciplined players in the 1st round.

That's why we got several suspended (mariguana and whatnot) ...

Hard to say. If he didn't clash with coaches he might be rated much higher. 1st round, maybe but probably early second.

I bet Hill clashes with Garrett within a month, he will be gone within 2 years .

I keep saying this...All the ability in the world don't translate to the field "Unless" its focused in the right direction. This is the definition of "Boom or Bust". All depends on the temperament, Drive and direction of the player. He could make Millions or he could make Thousands. Make a choice young man.

In their conference championship game where the opponent scored over 40 points, Hill was out of the game on all but 1 TD drive by the opponent.

On the one TD drive where he was in the game, the opponent only had to go 30 yards due to a fumble by the UCF offense.

On all other opponent possession where he played, the results were punts, turnovers and at best a field goal.

It's almost comical how much the UCF defense struggling directly correlated to when Hill was out of the game.

The RB Darrell Henderson just gashed them repeatedly when Hill was out.

It's not a stretch to think those coaches might not be the brightest bulbs in the box.

think those coaches had ulterior plans.
they went 12-1 inspite of playing their best dl minimally.
they may want to sabotage his draft value so he needs to go back for senior year.
that is the only rational explanation why trysten barely played in the fiesta bowl when he was a one-man wrecking machine in the conference championship game the week before.
if trysten balled out in the fiesta bowl, his stock would skyrocket and their best d player would definitely leave.
throwing the fiesta bowl would not get the coach fired at 12-1.
coach was planning for 2020

No, it appears the head coach there does not like him because Hill made it obvious that he respected the previous coaches way more than the replacements.

Al Davis kept Marcus Allen on the bench for a year because MA made him mad.

Parcells immediately started hassling Larry Allen and would not let him practice at the beginning of that training camp until he improved his times running the length of the field and back. Parcells did that because LA was the player most respected by the other players. The other players could see that if Parcells was the boss over LA that he was definitely the boss over them.
