Taco looks to be the one on the way out.
Crawford actually DOES SOMETHING.
adjust his contact but he is a good guy to have around.

Taco is the guy who needs to step up to be a viable replacement of Crawford snaps. He can play a similar tweener role of run defense RDE and pass rush from the interior.

We'd be light pass rushing DTs without Crawford.

I don't see it yet. Somebody has got to unseat him from the roles he fills. We're only talking 7mil salary.

What's your DT pass rush rotation?

Crawford, Collins, Hill. We were light on pass rushing DTs, but now we're ok. Dump Crawford and we're light again.

And I expect Crawford to start in the base at RDE. Quinn is more of a pass rush specialist. Unless Gregory? That could be.

Go back and take a look at what you actually got from Crawford.

Number of sacks lined up at RDE? Same number as you and me.

Every sack he got last year came lined up inside, and as the result of stunts freeing him up unblocked. Anyone can get a sack unblocked.

Inside, this team now has Hill, Collins, Woods, and Covington. Outside even more options and guys needing opportunities. No room left for a non-starter on the downside.

Rip off the bandaid.

Don’t know why we’d do anything with him until training camp is over. We don’t need the cap room. And who knows how guys like Covington, Hyder, and Hill will perform at DT, or if we like Quinn more than him on run downs. Plus, you never know when and where injuries will hit (#knockonwood). Would be stupid to rip off the bandaid now vs. final cuts.

Yep! Competition is the best thing, especially for a young team. Why get rid of guys now for a fifth-round pick next year? We really do not need the cap space this year even if we do extend Dak, Zeke, and Coop. Plus, injuries happen! Either we may end up needing another DL or another team will and the price will go up, but after we have settled on our top eight to ten players.

we know what we have out of Crawford. Better to shed his contract now. we arent goig to the SB this year, make the changes now that can make you better tomorrow.

Nostrodomus? What are the lottery numbers?

Honestly, this FO is gearing up for a Superbowl run and that is why they aren't going to release or trade a guy they really like, like Crawford when we don't need the cap space and a fifth in next year's draft does not mean a thing for a team making a run this year.

And to be honest, I like our chances better this year, than I have in some time. I am not saying I would bet my house on it, but maybe a $100!

I sure didn't "like him on run downs" during that Rams playoff loss, when he was the biggest liability on the field in giving up 273 yards rushing.

As mentioned in the article, it would do a disservice to the player to leave him scrambling for work at "final cuts".

And you always need the cap room.

But I'm not overly optimistic that these Cowboys decision makers will even cut him at all. Like Jeff Heath, they seem to overvalue mediocre players far more than I do.

The front office should know by now when it's time to hold 'em or when to fold 'em.

I'll respectfully choose to encourage them to do what needs to be done. Godspeed.

Hopefully being the straw that stirs the drink helps Zeke get a new deal more than it helped Reggie.

I feel like Tyrone Crawford is the new Greg Ellis. Greg Ellis had a good career but hated because he was drafted instead of Randy Moss. Tyrone Crawford is a good player but he is hated because he has a big contract.

Struggling to understand

Fans shouldn't want to move on from a player who produced way below his contract?

He's too versatile and definitely one of the top 10 DL on the team. There is no way he's getting cut in June. Also, he's got a manageable contract that another team that suffers a TC injury might trade for. You dont just dump those guys in May for nothing.

5.5 sacks from DT aint bad. For RDE, he should only have been in there on rush downs anyway.

Hill, Collins, Woods, and Covington inside. Is that your answer to my question:
What's your DT pass rush rotation?

I don't like that answer. I only see two guys I want in there on pass downs, and one of them hasn't played and NFL snap yet. Crawford was our most productive interior pass rushman by a wide margin. Collins was a distant second, and there was no significant interior pass rush past them.
