My thing is why didn't they do that with him last year. Knowing dang well his body wasn't built for guard
I do believe that when Booger recruited Collins, he promised him he would be an OT because that's the highest paid spot on the OL. I remember seeing most analysts had Collins at G.

I like Collins but if the plan is to not sign him long term then we should trade him this year before the trade deadline. Trade him now...

I'm guessing Jerry is anxious to see what Connor Williams can do at RT but can't help wondering if it's what's best for him to go back and forth between LG and OT. JJ might be wise to leave it to the coaches and butt out. This has been a common error made in the past with our OL youngsters. Let's hope it won't do CW a disservice to bounce around while he's trying to get acclimated at LG.

We all figured that. So who thinks Collins will be here after this year...

Probably not many here. Jerry and son are apparently highly concerned about paying him more than they're comfy giving La'el as an OT. Perhaps his performance in pass protection hasn't entirely satisfied their "druthers" as well. I suspect La'el possibly let it be known that he's not in favor of surrendering his post as a RT. I wouldn't be overly surprised if a move is forthcoming well before the coming season is complete, with Connor Williams moving to RT and Connor McGovern taking over at LG. Whether that occurs or not, it'll be interesting to see how this situation develops.

The top goal is to win games.

They don't have proven depth at OT.

CW has not played OT yet in the NFL.

Fleming is limited.

If CW looks awesone at OT and some young noname OT looks good enough to keep on the 53, then trading La'el might be a good option.

lets see if Williams can actually play Tackle in the NFL before trading Collins,i dont want to be stuck with Fleming at Rt for the whole season.

Like most rookie linemen, he just needed to gain some muscle mass to increase his power. Very few rookies have the body that they need until they are in an NFL training program. He could easily become a great OG after a couple of years. He might be a good OT as well due to his quick feet.

I like your trade idea...

And I'll preface my comment by saying I know its not Madden or Fantasy Football...

But the Giants need a Right Tackle and they got a nice tight end in Evan Engram. Do a trade straight up.

I know, I know, I don't know all the specifics of the salary implications/contract issues.

I just think it would benefit both teams from a player for player trade standpoint is all.

Correct but arms were still longer than Joe Thomas' arms. And weren't that short. But this organization still has dinosaurs that make decisions based on guys arm length. On both sides of the ball

Yeah, can't believe no one's mentioned Braden Smith yet. Dude's arms are almost an inch shorter than Williams', was projected as a Guard prospect, Colts threw him at Tackle and he was one of the best rookie OL in the league. Dude was great on a phenomenal Colts OL.

They're both great athletes, Braden was stronger in his upper body, but his feet weren't as good. Supposedly. Braden spent most of his time in college at Guard.

Whatever. If you can play, you can play.

If we kick Williams out to OT we’re going to expose his weakness. Scouting report said lack of lateral agility...
