well it would be hard to follow up last week with more of an action packed show, so it's time to get the details done and setup the finale. i certainly didn't expect to lose a dragon already and i'm not sure how they made that angle of a shot anyway. to have to fly around the bend to see the ships who can only point in one direction able to hook it like that - interesting. :)

not the fastest episode out there last night but necessary. 2 more to go.
I don't think action was required as much as big twists and surprises. (ie, Drama)

So far I'm very disappointed in season 8. Supposed to be the biggest so far and so far it has been pretty boring. The Night King basically died quickly and with as little drama as possible. Several episodes have only been setting setters and even what it set up was a let down.

They have only killed off characters that have migrated to the background or where only ever background players. Early on when they were still coming from the books. Important people died causing major upheaval. We are into the last two episodes and all the major players with the exception of the Night King and Rhaegal are still in play. Again, the Night King's death felt more like a speed bump than any major game changer. The Dragons which were supposed to be game changers in battle seem to die with such ease these days. One left and I'm almost sure it will end up choking on a tick tack.

The writing and the cinematography have sucked in season eight. Season seven was far better in my opinion. At least you could see the battles and the Dragons were serving mass destruction and dramatic executions.

Generally I poke fun and bash for fun, but I really am not happy with the way things have played out thus far. I expected a lot more especially when they had two full years to bring this together.

i'll agree the night king was a bit anti-climactic but not sure what else you could do with it. he had to die somehow. i can't see them rounding off into a circle to duke it out - the others would never allow it. i've thought about it a lot and like you - think it could have been more punch to the death of someone haunting us for so many seasons.

i'm taking it for what it is. in my mind i always pegged the walkers as the grand finale so i'm already not where i thought we'd be.

I am not sure if the ships had the dragon killing crossbows on the back or not but those ships would take time to turn around, especially with the tight formation. If they did not have them on the back of them, she could have flew around the island and came up behind while screaming Dracarys.

The writers aren't stupid they must know just how silly some of these scenes actually are. The aforementioned Iron Fleet scorpion attack being one of them.

So they really have to sit around around a meeting table and say that it is better to write for drama then it is for realism, at least this season.

The scene with Dany's entire retinue no more than what a 1000 yards from Kings Landing walls was, to me, absurd. I said to my wife that when the gates opened up instead of Cersi's hand coming out negotiate, it should have been 10,000 Golden Company cavalry charging straight at the pitiful little group just prior to an onslaught of giant spears aimed directly at the Dragon Queens head.

Boom , battle of Kings Landing over!

And then when they panned outwards with the camera, there was the last Dragon sitting in the background easily within range of the castles 'artillery', just hanging out.. <sigh..>

Well, it's obvious they aren't writing the show for me specifically, but for a much larger group of people and i understand this, but i believe the huge popularity of the series (and i'm a big fan) has led to some very sloppy drama over realism moments that exceed the high standards the show set for itself through the first 6 seasons or so.

Absolutely. The White Walkers were always the grand elephant in the room since season one. The building this unimaginable growing fear behind the scenes each seasons. The White Walkers were the Oz of Wizard of Oz. ....except his light went out like an old lady blowing out a candle at bed time.

Its gonna be Jon not Daenerys. If Sam is writing "A Song Of Ice And Fire" he is writing it about Jon, not the chick that smoked his family. Jon is ice and fire being a Targaryen and Stark

so if Dany, Cersai, and Jon all get killed in the next two episodes who is 1st in line for the throne. Gentry? After all this it will probabaly end up with Him and Arya on the throne.
Arya doesn't even want to be a Lady, so I don't think she'll ever want to rule.

Not to mention that all their backs we're probably turned to her, so none of them would even see her until she was past them.
Many viewers have understandable problems with the episode. I do as well but one of mine deals with (what I think) is a glaring omission. Why didn't everyone gang up on Arya and pressure her into telling them how she developed into an assassin? Here is this little sprite of a girl, who disappeared for a long time, returned as a deadly killing machine, and who saved the Seven Realms (with Bran's help).

Not dragons. No Red Woman. Zero trained soldiers, packing or not packing their privates. Nope. It was Arya. If anything, there should have been looks of awe on Sensa face hearing at least a portion of Arya's journey. What? Did Arya tell Sensa already? Did Arya ask Sensa to keep it a secret and Sensa actually kept it a secret??????

you were thinking that and i was thinking that Mellisande could have grabbed Cersai and did a Thelma and Louise right off the top of Kings Landing. Problem solved.

The only problem is Mellisande and Cersei would have become frozen in mid-air, halfway to the ground, and both the episode and series would have faded to white--sorta like a reverse Sopranos finale.

Arya did tell Sansa. Remember when Sansa found the face in Arya's bag?

Jon will not be happy with Sansa, Of course that may be the storyline where Sansa is actually vying for the Iron Throne. Maybe she hooks up with Jon since he is not a Stark and they rule as king and queen. Sansa and Arya dont like her and dont trust her.Not sure how this is going to end but Sansa is going down a road that may give her the throne. Remember she always wanted to be there. It will suck if at the end of the day Cersai still is sitting on the Iron Throne.

Series like these either should have ended a season ago or a season from now, few end at the right time. I think the writers are strapped with ending this and last night's episode had a lot of filler in it with that party lasting longer than the toga party in Animal House.

This the most expensive TV project in history with the salary demands of the stars climbing every couple of seasons and the production costs on the incline and the audience for it had plateaued and the sign on's just for this series incredibly high. The consideration of post GoT is a tough one because prequels and sequels, and there are three in the works, do about half as good in audience numbers and since they're subscription, that's real numbers.

That sloppiness with the Starbucks cup is a very telling sign that a lot of people are ready for this to be over. It's one thing to miss it during the filming but the editing missed that was well.

And I admit it, after viewing the previous episode 3 times, no way they're going to trump that but this episode had a mailed in feeling to it.

And how in the world does the director, Nutter, miss the opportunity to show Greyjoy waiting with the crossbow ready and the dragons approaching with Dany unaware of him? Talk about a lot of viewers yelling at the TV and on the edge of their seats. This after the last episode was a just in the nick of time the Night King gets whacked with everybody seconds from death.

But just like my other favorite series, there are episodes that don't stand up but it's still a great production but like the cast of Lord of the Rings, they were ready to move onto something else. I still think it was a mistake not to end this with a battle for humanity after defeating Cersei because I could feel myself exhaling last night and I don't know if they can put that much breath into me with these next two episodes and I am really tired of Greyjoy's overacting and Cersei's underacting with a smirk. I find their screen time the least effective.

Clegane Bowl could be on!

The question who dies with least amount of drama / fight. The Mountain or the Night King / Rhaegal?
